With the road, people have boldly invested in growing crops and raising livestock, thereby increasing their income. This year, Salatel - the place where Khmer people practice their beliefs, has just been invested in a new and spacious building, and the people and I are very excited.”

My family is getting ready for our traditional Tet holiday, wrapping cakes and making jams to eat during Tet, when the children and grandchildren gather.”

In Khanh Hoa commune, implementing the Project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the area, the commune has paid attention to and supported the construction of 7 houses for ethnic minority households in Hamlet 6, using the capital from the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority Areas. Up to now, the houses have been completed and put into use, and the people have new houses to celebrate Tet.

Ms. Ly Thi Phuong, Hamlet 6, Khanh Hoa Commune, shared: “I am nearly 60 years old this year, living alone, with a disabled leg. In my daily life, I am happy to be able to do whatever I am hired to do, just enough to support myself, but I do not have money to build a house. Now that the Party and the State have paid attention and supported me with 60 million VND to build a new, spacious house, I am very happy. With a new house, I am more excited to celebrate the traditional New Year than every year.”

Khmer people in Hamlet 6, Khanh Lam Commune are also eagerly welcoming the New Year. This year, in addition to the investment in a new road and a new salatel, the Khmer people here have just finished harvesting the winter-spring rice crop with the joy of a bumper crop, so the atmosphere of welcoming Tet is more bustling than every year.

Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, Hamlet 6, Khanh Lam Commune, said: “The last winter-spring rice crop was a bumper crop, and my family made a good profit. After the rice crop, I went to work in the lake to earn more income. After a year of hard work, I still have a lot left over, so celebrating the traditional New Year this year is more exciting.”
