BTO-This is the content of the workshop held on the afternoon of April 25 in Phan Thiet City, jointly organized by the People's Committee of Binh Thuan Province and Ho Chi Minh National University (VNU). Comrade Nguyen Hoai Anh - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee and Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Council, Director of VNU Ho Chi Minh City co-chaired the workshop.
Attending the workshop were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh and 150 delegates who are leaders of departments, branches, localities, associations, enterprises in the province and some members of Ho Chi Minh National University.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh emphasized: We are living in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, where science, technology and digital transformation are the core driving forces for the rapid, sustainable and comprehensive development of the country in general and each locality in particular.
In recent times, the Party and the State have had many policies and guidelines to promote the application and development of science and technology, promote innovation and digital transformation, proactively and actively participate in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and achieve many important results. However, the digital transformation process in particular and the development and application of science and technology still have limitations that need to be overcome and have more appropriate solutions. The workshop on "Application of science, technology and digital transformation: New development momentum for the three economic pillars of Binh Thuan" is an important activity, demonstrating the province's determination in implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo (Resolution 57) on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.
Speaking at the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan said that Binh Thuan has great advantages for development with a synchronous and connected road traffic system; sea routes, seaports and airports about to come into operation. Binh Thuan is also known as the locality with the second largest clean energy source in the country and a developed tourism industry. To fully exploit that potential advantage, promoting the application of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation is really necessary and must become the foundation of the three economic pillars...
At the workshop, delegates and experts gave their opinions on the current situation, potential and strengths of the province's three economic pillars. They emphasized that Binh Thuan is a place where both natural potential and development challenges converge. Thoroughly grasping and concretizing the spirit of Resolution 57 is the only way to overcome current bottlenecks, expand growth potential and ensure a future of rapid, sustainable and self-reliant development.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Do Phu Tran Tinh - Institute of Policy, Ho Chi Minh National University proposed: The province should continue to invest in developing Vinh Tan International Port in conjunction with the orientation of developing a renewable energy logistics center for the South Central Coast and Central Highlands; developing fishery logistics services in Binh Thuan province is of great significance in the sustainable development strategy of the fisheries sector, improving the value chain and income for fishermen, while contributing to protecting aquatic resources and sovereignty over seas and islands.
In the field of cultivation, the province needs to continue upgrading the dragon fruit value chain towards applying high technology, enhancing deep processing, linking with health and beauty services, ensuring to meet green and sustainable agricultural standards. In the field of tourism services, Binh Thuan needs to pioneer in developing smart tourism based on a comprehensive digital platform...
At the discussion session, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hoai Anh mentioned and oriented some contents that need to be discussed, perspectives on the application of science and technology and digital transformation to create new momentum for the provincial tourism industry. In particular, the orientation to build and develop a smart tourism ecosystem. Mentioned some solutions that need attention in the coming time such as applying AI and big data to analyze tourist needs by target, time, interests, consumption, etc. Thereby, there are suitable solutions for business activities of service and tourism enterprises in the locality... The workshop also recorded many opinions and proposals from delegates such as: it is necessary to clearly identify strategic products of each region and locality. On that basis, invest in strategic science and technology to upgrade the value chain of strategic products with the participation of businesses and local authorities...
Concluding the discussion, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan stated: In order for the application of science, technology and digital transformation to be a new driving force for the province's economic development, the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province needs to specify Resolution 57. At the same time, Binh Thuan needs to develop policies, work with businesses, and select specific products, thereby enhancing the value of each business product. Ho Chi Minh National University will support Binh Thuan province in reviewing the province's digital transformation infrastructure and supporting the construction of digital transformation infrastructure for the locality...
Closing the workshop, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh also emphasized: "The practical experiences, solutions and recommendations shared at the workshop are valuable orientations, contributing to helping the province effectively implement the Resolution in the coming time. We are facing a great opportunity - an opportunity to break through and transform strongly through science, technology and digital transformation to innovate the growth model, improve productivity, quality and competitiveness of the economy".
