Comrade To Lam was elected General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party for the 13th term.

Comrade Pham Minh Chinh, Member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister, chaired the meeting on behalf of the Political Bureau.

At the Conference, based on the Party's regulations and the Politburo's personnel nomination guidelines, the Central Committee, demonstrating a high sense of responsibility, focused its intellect, engaged in democratic discussion, and unanimously elected Comrade To Lam, Member of the Politburo and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, with an absolute majority of 100% of votes, to the position of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam for the 13th term.

General Secretary To Lam delivered a speech affirming the inheritance and development of the revolutionary achievements built by the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and previous generations of leaders; maintaining unity and cohesion; and together with the Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat, resolutely leading and directing the entire Party, people, and army to successfully achieve the goals and tasks set forth by the 13th National Party Congress, successfully organizing the 14th National Congress, and leading the country to steadily develop in the new period.
