Officers of the Border Guard Station at Hon Gai Port handle immigration procedures for businesses.
Clearly identifying the local characteristics, the Border Guard Station of Hon Gai Port has proactively implemented many measures. Every year, the Station proactively develops programs and plans for the fight against and prevention of crimes at sea; thoroughly grasps and assigns tasks to each team, station, and unit's officers and soldiers. The Party Committee and unit commanders strengthen political and ideological education so that officers and soldiers clearly understand the local situation and the responsibilities of individuals and units in the fight against all types of crimes at sea.
Implementing the direction of superiors, the professional teams and control stations of the unit proactively grasp the port area and waterways that subjects often use to commit illegal acts. From there, arrange forces and means, closely coordinate with forces in the port block to strengthen inspection, control and strictly handle violators in accordance with the provisions of law. Thanks to that, in recent times, the situation of transporting smuggled and prohibited goods at sea; stealing property on foreign ships, following tourist boats to solicit tourists... has basically disappeared.
Along with the fight against crime, the Station has also actively implemented solutions to improve the quality of border gate management. Lieutenant Colonel Tay Van Thai, Political Commissar of the Border Guard Station of Hon Gai Port, said: Implementing the directives of the superiors on "Improving the quality of border gate work of the Border Guard in the new situation", the Station's Party Committee has promptly disseminated, led, and directed its subordinate Party cells to include the content of "improving the quality of border gate work" in the annual and monthly leadership resolutions for leaders to implement, ensuring unified and effective leadership, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation.
Every year, the unit also selects and creates conditions for officers and soldiers working in border control at border gates to participate in training courses and professional development organized by superiors to improve their knowledge of law and border control skills.

To facilitate people and businesses, the Station has also actively implemented electronic border procedures. Up to now, declarations and receipt of results are carried out through the national electronic information portal, paper documents have been completely eliminated. Except for some specific procedures, people and businesses can make declarations and receive results at any location with internet access, shortening the time to process XNC procedures for people, vehicles and goods.
Lieutenant Colonel Phan Van Quan, Head of the Border Guard Procedures Team of Hon Gai Port, Hon Gai Port Border Guard Station, said: After piloting electronic border procedures in 2014, in November 2018, Hon Gai Port Border Guard Station continued to deploy the expanded national single window mechanism for XNC ship procedures. If previously, it took shipping agents 1-2 hours to complete a set of documents manually, now the time has been reduced to 5-7 minutes. In particular, through the electronic border guard procedure system, the Border Guard force also connects with other forces at the border gate, helping to exchange information quickly, accurately, transparently, creating maximum favorable conditions for businesses.
With drastic and appropriate solutions, in recent times, the security and order situation at sea and the port gate managed by the Border Guard Station of Hon Gai Port has always been maintained; the ports have operated stably and effectively; thereby, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the locality.
