On August 9th, the Kien Giang Provincial Department of Tourism, in coordination with the Phu Quoc City People's Committee and Visit Indochina Company, organized a visit to Phu Quoc to survey the tourism market and plan to bring international tourists to the area in the near future.
Ari Asias flight AK545 brought 157 members of a Malaysian tour group, all of whom are from the largest travel companies in Malaysia, to Phu Quoc airport.
Notably, the delegation also included Mr. Mita, Chairman of Golden Destination Group, and members of the travel agency specializing in cruise tourism, MICE tourism, group tours, and many other emerging markets, who came to visit and survey Phu Quoc Island.
Malaysia was one of the largest sources of tourists to Vietnam in the first six months of 2024 (ranking 5th among the top 10 international tourist markets to Vietnam), reaching 354,000 visitors, an increase of 9.3% compared to the same period last year. Air Asia has been operating weekly direct flights from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) to Phu Quoc since international tourism resumed.

According to Nguyen Chi Thanh, Deputy Director of the Kien Giang Department of Tourism, Malaysia is one of the top 20 countries with the most tourists visiting Phu Quoc and is considered a market with great potential.
Over the years, Phu Quoc has attracted more than 90% of international tourists to Kien Giang province. The local authorities have intensified efforts to promote the image of the "pearl island" on social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc., which have a large global user base.
In addition, Phu Quoc city also takes advantage of activities such as international conferences, seminars, and trade fairs to promote Phu Quoc tourism to international friends.
According to the Kien Giang Department of Tourism, in July 2024, Phu Quoc is estimated to welcome nearly 636,200 visitors (a 3.3% increase compared to the same period last year), including nearly 63,200 international visitors (a 27.4% increase compared to the same period last year); total revenue from tourism activities reached VND 1,640 billion (a 14.1% increase compared to the same period last year).
In the first seven months of 2024, Phu Quoc is estimated to have welcomed nearly 4 million visitors (reaching 59.2% of the annual plan), including nearly 562,300 international visitors, with total revenue from tourism activities exceeding 12,844 billion VND (reaching 75.6% of the annual plan).
