Weightlifter Trinh Van Vinh fails early at 2024 Olympics

Báo Dân tríBáo Dân trí19/11/2024

(Dan Tri) - Trinh Van Vinh registered to lift 128kg when competing in the men's 61kg snatch event, weightlifting at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He failed all three times and was eliminated early.
Trinh Van Vinh brought with him the hope of ending the medal drought for Vietnamese sports at the 2024 Olympics, however, it seems that he has not achieved the best physical condition and his professional calculations were not suitable, so he failed early. The coaching staff miscalculated Trinh Van Vinh's peak performance, so he registered a rather high snatch (128kg). Unfortunately, the 1995-born weightlifter was unsuccessful in all three attempts, so he was not recognized for his achievements and was eliminated early, not even allowed to compete in the push. With Trinh Van Vinh's failure, the Vietnamese team still has no medals after 15/16 athletes have finished competing. Vietnamese sports only has one athlete left to compete at the 2024 Olympics, rower Nguyen Thi Huong, who will compete in the canoeing qualifying round for the women's 200m single sculls (3:30 p.m. on August 8). Trinh Van Vinh unexpectedly failed
Athletes will compete from low to high weight, regardless of the competition (each athlete has 3 attempts). Trinh Van Vinh's initial weight is 9th (from low), however, he will compete later because if in the 2nd and 3rd times, other athletes register for a lower weight than Trinh Van Vinh, they will still compete first. Kaimauri Erati competed first, he successfully registered for 95kg in the first competition, he registered for 100kg in the second competition, but was unsuccessful. In the 3rd competition, Erati successfully lifted 100k. Thus, Erati's clean and jerk achievement is 100kg. Because Erati's three registered weights were lower than the first registered weights of the other 11 athletes, he competed alone in all three snatches. Shota Mishvelidze succeeded in the first attempt at 114kg, and he continued to succeed in the second attempt at 121kg. Mishvelidze registered the third weight of 128kg, but he was unsuccessful. Theerapong Silachai succeeded on the first attempt with the registered weight of 127kg. The Thai athlete tried the second attempt with the weight of 130kg and succeeded. Regaining his confidence, Silachai succeeded on the third attempt with the weight of 132kg. Mohamad Aniq bin Kasdan succeeded on the first attempt with the weight of 126kg, he failed on the second attempt with the weight of 130kg and succeeded on the third attempt. On his third attempt, still at 134kg, the Italian athlete was again unsuccessful. Thus, Massidda's achievement was not counted. Ivan Petkov Dimov failed in his first snatch attempt with a registered weight of 132kg. Dimov unexpectedly raised the weight to 134kg and was still unsuccessful.
