The speaker from the Command of Naval Region 5 focused on disseminating information and propaganda on topics such as the position, role, and importance of Vietnam's seas and islands to the cause of national construction and defense; the current situation in our sea areas; the viewpoints, objectives, and solutions of the Party and State in the struggle to protect the sovereignty of the seas and islands; and some outstanding achievements of the Vietnam People's Navy in fulfilling its assigned political tasks.
The rapporteur from the Command of Naval Region 5 also disseminated and publicized Directive 45/CT-TTg dated December 13, 2017, of the Prime Minister on a number of urgent tasks and solutions to address the European Commission's warning in combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing; and the legal regulations and penalties for fishing vessels violating regulations on illegal fishing in foreign waters.

The information and propaganda activities of the 5th Naval Region contribute to further thoroughly implementing the resolutions and directives of the Party, especially Resolution No. 8 of the 13th Central Committee on "The Strategy for National Defense in the New Situation," and Resolution No. 8 of the 12th Central Committee on "The Strategy for Sustainable Development of Vietnam's Marine Economy to 2030, with a Vision to 2045."
At the same time, we must strengthen propaganda and education for cadres, Party members, and all strata of the people to deeply understand the position, role, and potential of the sea and islands in the cause of national construction and defense; the goals, guidelines, and policies of the Party and State on sustainable development of the marine and island economy associated with building a national defense system and people's security posture at sea; and leverage the combined strength of the political system and the community in participating in socio-economic development, while consolidating national defense and security and firmly protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.

Earlier, in May 2024, the Command of Naval Region 5 coordinated with the Women's Union and the Youth Union of An Giang province to organize information and propaganda activities on the sea and islands for more than 1,000 officials, female members of the provincial Women's Union, and students of An Giang University.
