The HSA exam consists of approximately 75% multiple-choice questions with four options and 25% fill-in-the-blank questions.
While last year, cluster questions only appeared in the language section of the exam, from 2025 onwards, the Hanoi National University's aptitude test will include cluster questions in all sections and topics. These cluster questions consist of a common question and individual questions designed to assess candidates' abilities from low to high levels.
Cluster questions will leverage rich data sources, assessing students' thinking skills across disciplines and across fields. These are changes in the construction of question banks for competency assessment exams.
According to a representative from the Hanoi National University Examination Center, the sample exam provides information on question formats and exam structure to help students develop study plans that meet the exam requirements. In both the sample and official exams, the questions are not arranged from easy to difficult but are randomly shuffled according to a fixed matrix.
Candidates should take the practice test to familiarize themselves with the exam format, review and supplement their knowledge and skills, and practice time management. The score will be calculated based on the total number of correct answers; incorrect answers will not result in point deductions. In the official exam, the score will be displayed on the computer after the candidate completes all sections of the test.
Candidates can access the exam at https://tk.cet.vnu.edu.vn/ or https://hsa.edu.vn/ to take the test on a computer starting from September 1, 2024.
The National University of Hanoi's aptitude test is one of the largest separate entrance exams in the country. Currently, about 90 universities use the scores from this exam for admission purposes.
In 2024, the Hanoi National University's aptitude test will be held in 6 sessions, starting from March 23rd to June 2nd, 2024, at 19 testing locations.
