TPO - On August 3rd, Tra Vinh University held a graduation ceremony for 7 new PhDs and 408 Master's graduates. Notably, among them was Mr. Doan Hoang Hai, 73 years old - the oldest PhD graduate at the university.
Newly appointed Doctor Doan Hoang Hai was born in 1951 in Ba Tri District, Ben Tre Province. He is currently the Vice Chairman of the Club of Traditional Resistance, Information and Postal Services, Central Committee of the Southern Region. He received the 50-year Party membership badge and is a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ben Tre Province for the 2024-2029 term.

Mr. Hai pursued a doctoral program in Business Administration at Tra Vinh University and successfully defended his dissertation on the topic "Factors Affecting Human Resource Development in Enterprises: The Case of Ho Chi Minh City Telecommunications."
At the graduation ceremony, newly minted Doctor Doan Hoang Hai stated that over 50 years ago he served in the military in Duyen Hai district (now Duyen Hai town, Tra Vinh province). He received the protection and love of the people, overcoming difficulties to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Radio Communications Department of the Saigon - Gia Dinh Regional Party Committee.
Mr. Hai said that he has dedicated his life to learning, following the teachings and example of President Ho Chi Minh; learning to both update and enhance his own knowledge, and to have the opportunity to contribute intellectual value to society, setting an example for his descendants to follow. Currently, some of his children and grandchildren are masters degree holders, and several are pursuing doctoral studies.
Mr. Hai is a disabled veteran (category 2/4), and for him, age and health could not hinder his academic pursuits. He overcame many difficulties while studying at university, conducting research, carrying out sociological surveys, and writing his dissertation. "At this age, health and mobility are often very limited, but I always received support from my family and relatives, and the dedicated guidance of my teachers helped me complete my doctoral dissertation on time," said the 73-year-old newly minted doctor.

Regarding his reasons for choosing a doctoral thesis related to telecommunications human resources, Mr. Hai said that this is a field he previously worked in, so he has experience. In addition, Vietnam is currently entering the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, a period of building a digital government and a digital society, with information technology booming. Therefore, industries in the fields of information technology and telecommunications face new difficulties, challenges, and opportunities. “I hope this dissertation topic will bring many useful values to businesses and society in effectively utilizing and developing human resources within organizations and aligning with development trends,” Mr. Hai added.
The 73-year-old newly minted doctor said that he will continue to hone his knowledge, constantly learn, and contribute his research values to society, always being an exemplary father, grandfather, and Party member.
