Announcing the 2024 "For the Cause of Vietnamese Education" Journalism Award.

Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son emphasized that the award aims to honor reporters and journalists, and to recognize teachers and exemplary role models in teaching and learning.

Besides reflecting on "hot" issues and highlighting exemplary individuals and models, the Deputy Minister hopes that the entries will address systemic issues with long-term impacts, such as the policies and guidelines of the Party, the State, and the Ministry of Education and Training. The Deputy Minister also respectfully acknowledges entries with foresight and predictions that will provide the education sector with a basis for improving policies.

At the press conference, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son acknowledged that the press has always been a partner and supporter of the education sector. The national press award "For the Cause of Vietnamese Education" is a platform for reporters and journalists to gain more motivation and exchange ideas. Each year, the organizing committee learns from experience to make the award increasingly meaningful, bringing greater value and spreading positive values ​​to society.

Speaking on behalf of the judging panel, Ms. Dinh Thi Xuan Hoa, Deputy Director of the Institute of Journalism and Communication, Academy of Journalism and Communication, stated: 2024 marks the 7th year of the National Journalism Award "For the Cause of Vietnamese Education". The award is chaired by the Ministry of Education and Training, in coordination with the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Vietnam Journalists Association . The Education and Times Newspaper has been assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training as the permanent organizing unit.

Through the "For the Cause of Vietnamese Education" Journalism Award, society can objectively recognize and evaluate the contributions of the education sector to the cause of national construction and defense. This helps society understand education correctly and fully; thereby sharing, supporting, and accompanying teachers nationwide in particular and the entire education sector in general.

Through journalistic works, we see the commitment of reporters to spreading exemplary teachers and the positive values ​​that education brings throughout society.

Ms. Dinh Thi Xuan Hoa emphasized that, in the process of reform, in addition to opportunities and advantages, the education sector will also face many difficulties and challenges. Therefore, more than ever, we always hope for and appreciate all the cooperation and support for the education sector; and this includes the support and companionship from the press and media.

Award criteria

Regarding the rules and regulations, journalist Trieu Ngoc Lam, Editor-in-Chief of the Education and Times Newspaper and Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, stated: Authors participating in the Award must be Vietnamese citizens, including professional and non-professional journalists, with outstanding journalistic works published in mass media outlets licensed by the Ministry of Information and Communications , meeting the Award criteria.

Authors participating in the competition must not violate the Code of Professional Ethics for Vietnamese Journalists, the Press Law, or other laws. Each author or group of authors may submit a maximum of 5 works to the competition. Members of the Judging Panel, the Steering Committee, and the Organizing Committee are not allowed to submit works to the competition.

The journalistic works submitted to the Award must be works in Vietnamese published or broadcast on mass media outlets from September 5, 2023 to September 5, 2024. If the work is published or broadcast in multiple installments, at least two-thirds of the works must fall within the aforementioned period.

Works awaiting evaluation and decision from competent authorities; works that have won the National Journalism Award or other specialized national journalism awards will not be considered. Submitted works must ensure there are no copyright disputes from the time of publication.

Regarding the criteria for awarding the prize, the work must ensure authenticity, accuracy, objectivity, and correct ideological and political orientation. The content of the work must address issues in education that are of public interest; it must have a discovery, summary, or guidance that is persuasive and has high social impact; it must have an engaging and creative presentation method; and it must have a positive impact in serving the work of educational reform. Works of a fictional nature will not be considered.

Typical educational activities have been and are being implemented in localities and educational institutions at all levels, from preschool to university. Many collectives and individuals have implemented numerous outstanding solutions, results, and achievements, demonstrating innovation in teaching and learning in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 29-NQ/TƯ of 2013 of the Central Committee on fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training, meeting the requirements of industrialization and modernization in the context of a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration.
