Vietnam Research Expert, Head of Vietnamese Department - China Central Radio and Television Wei Wei answered an interview before the visit of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to Vietnam. |
According to Mr. Wei Wei, this is Comrade Xi Jinping's fourth visit to Vietnam since taking office as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, and his first visit to Vietnam after Comrade To Lam took office as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. This is also the next important meeting between the leaders of the two parties less than a year after General Secretary and President To Lam's state visit to China last August.
China and Vietnam are two countries linked by mountains and rivers, and have a “four good” relationship: good neighbors, good friends, good comrades, and good partners. China always views the China-Vietnam relationship from a strategic and long-term perspective. The Party and Government of Vietnam also attach great importance to the relationship with China.
General Secretary To Lam repeatedly affirmed that Vietnam always remembers China's selfless assistance to Vietnam's revolutionary struggle and national construction, and always considers developing relations with China a strategic choice and top priority in foreign policy.
Mr. Wei Wei emphasized that at the end of 2023, the two sides announced a new position for the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries, which is to join hands to build a community of shared future between China and Vietnam of strategic significance on the basis of deepening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Vietnam, opening a new chapter in China-Vietnam relations in the new era. This is in line with the common needs in the modernization cause of each country, as well as the common interests of the people of the two countries.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations. Expert Wei Wei believes that this visit is not only a continuation of the relationship between the two countries, but also a new starting point for future cooperation, promoting the building of a strategic Sino-Vietnamese community of shared future to a new height.
According to Mr. Wei Wei, both Vietnam and China are on a new journey of reform and development, striving for their own great goals. China is promoting Chinese-style modernization, while Vietnam is also accelerating the process of industrialization and modernization of the country, bringing more opportunities for cooperation for both sides.
Currently, the Vietnamese Government is actively promoting extensive administrative reform. This visit by General Secretary Xi Jinping is also an important opportunity for the two sides to continue to strengthen the exchange of experiences in national governance.
In recent years, the two Parties and two countries have had frequent high-level contacts, and economic, trade, investment and humanitarian exchanges between Vietnam and China have also become increasingly vibrant. This visit by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping continues to send a positive message to the international community about the two socialist countries of China and Vietnam always being united in friendship and working together for development.
Vietnam and China together firmly follow the path of socialist modernization with their own characteristics, jointly promote the development of the socialist cause in the world, and can make positive contributions to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
Expert Wei Wei expressed hope that General Secretary Xi Jinping's visit this time will add new momentum to cooperation between China and Vietnam in fields such as politics, security, economy, society, and people-to-people exchange, so that cooperation between the two countries can achieve more practical results.
Assessing the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, expert Wei Wei said that in recent years, economic and trade cooperation between China and Vietnam has become a bright spot in bilateral relations.
In 2024, China will continue to be Vietnam's largest trading partner and the third largest source of foreign investment in Vietnam, while Vietnam has risen to become China's fourth largest trading partner globally. The "mutual complementarity, mutual benefit, and win-win" cooperation model between the two countries will become a model of cooperation in the region.
After General Secretary To Lam's visit to China in August 2024, the two countries have strengthened political trust and continued to deepen cooperation in various fields, promoting bilateral relations to a new stage, higher, deeper and more substantial. For example, in infrastructure connectivity, the two sides continue to improve railway, road and infrastructure connections at border gates, build an effective logistics network; jointly develop in many emerging fields, promoting the deep connection of the two countries' industrial chains.
Today, cooperation between the two countries has expanded from traditional manufacturing to higher value-added sectors. In addition, the two sides can cooperate to expand the export of high-quality Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products to China.
