Located hundreds of meters above sea level, Da Chong mountain peak (Bang Ca commune, Ha Long city) is a fascinating destination for tourists who love to explore because of the height, majesty and uniqueness of the landscape here.

Da Chong Mountain has a unique shape in Vietnam with dozens of natural stone slabs stacked on top of each other, precariously at a height of hundreds of meters, protruding out of the forest edge, with contact points between two stone slabs only about ^1m2 wide, creating a unique and distinctive look. From above, visitors can enjoy the beautiful view of Yen Lap Lake surrounded by endless pine forests, with islands floating in the middle of the lake creating a charming landscape.

Another unique feature is that Da Chong mountain is associated with legends and place names such as Khe Mung, Khe Lieu, Phuong Hoang mountain... which is also the sacred mountain of the Dao Thanh Y people, Bang Ca commune.

According to the elders, village elders, village chiefs, and prestigious people in the Dao Thanh Y community who have been here for many generations, the story is passed down: In ancient times, a heavenly general led his army through this area, traveled a very long distance and could not find drinking water. While waiting, the god came across a clear stream. He was overjoyed and ordered his army to stop, but partly because the army was large and the stream was small and long, he used his hands to dig deep into the stream so that the soldiers had enough water to drink. While busy, the stream water rose high and wet the hem of his shirt. He took off his armor, wrung out his shirt and found a place to dry it; he took a pole to put it across two mountain peaks (Dai and Chong rocks). Chong rocks were lower than Dai rocks, so he picked up rocks and placed them on the mountain peak to make the two sides equal, then hung the pole to dry his clothes.

Not only does it have an interesting rock outcrop, the mountain peak is also one of the highest points of the Phoenix mountain range stretching from Uong Bi City through Quang Yen Town and Ha Long City, so it has very impressive landscapes of forests, mountains, rivers and lakes. (Source: VOV)

Local people later called that stream Khe Mung, built a temple at the foot of the mountain in that area to worship him (no ruins remain), and called the mountain where he hung his pole to dry clothes Chong mountain (Chong Stone mountain).

To see the most beautiful panorama of Da Chong mountain, visitors can go to Bang Ca commune, then take a boat across the lake, stop at Khe Mung, then walk under the forest canopy to the top of Da Chong mountain. When it rains and the sun rises, a sea of ​​clouds often appears halfway up the mountain, embracing the entire pine forest surrounding Yen Lap Lake like a fairyland. Located at an altitude of over 400m above sea level, the unique beauty of Da Chong mountain peak is not only an attractive destination for adventurers who love to explore, heights, and are not afraid of danger, but also an ideal place to take great photos... This will definitely make visitors feel very satisfied after hours of climbing to conquer Da Chong and then continuing to explore the landscapes, passes and waterfalls of Hoanh Bo district.

This destination has been researched by the city, calling for businesses to invest in exploitation, aiming to expand the tourism space in the mountainous area north of Ha Long, associated with experiencing historical relics and cultural identities of the highland ethnic groups here.

To visit Da Chong mountain, visitors can go to the center of Hoanh Bo district (district medical center intersection); continue along National Highway 279 about 19km to Khe Lieu, Bang Ca commune and rent a boat on the lake for about 45 minutes, to Khe Mung, then walk according to the instructions for about 1.5 hours to arrive.

Tourists can combine along the route from the center of Hoanh Bo district through the guava, apple, and sugarcane farms of Son Duong and Dan Chu communes (Hoanh Bo), and at the same time visit the Quang La flower paradise and the Thanh Y Bang Ca Dao Cultural Village Conservation Area.

A special thing to note when visiting and exploring Da Chong Mountain is that visitors must ensure their own safety such as: Choosing a means of transport (a boat that is qualified to travel on the lake) fully equipped with life buoys and wearing life jackets; proactively preparing food and drinks because there are no shops on the route. The pine forest at the foot of the mountain is very flammable, dangerous to life, so be especially careful with firewood and protect the environment.
