How far along is the construction of the 1.6 trillion VND bridge connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Nai?
Báo Tiền Phong•20/11/2024
TPO - The Nhon Trach Bridge, part of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project, spans the Dong Nai River, connecting Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City) and Nhon Trach District (Dong Nai Province), and is gradually taking shape.
The Nhon Trach Bridge, located on the Ring Road 3, was started in September 2022 with a total investment of over 1,600 billion VND.
The bridge is over 2km long, 19.75m wide, and the approach roads at both ends are 560m long.
The Nhon Trach Bridge is the largest bridge on Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3, part of component project 1A, the Tan Van - Nhon Trach section (phase 1) of Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3. The project is 8.75 km long with a total investment of over 6,955 billion VND.
The Nhon Trach Bridge is being constructed by Kumho E&C (South Korea). The project commenced on September 24, 2022, and is scheduled for completion in August 2025.
However, the contractor is now planning to shorten the project to complete it by April 30, 2025.
A main span of the Nhon Trach bridge is currently under construction over the Dong Nai River.
To ensure the Nhon Trach bridge project is completed ahead of schedule, the My Thuan Project Management Board (the investor) has implemented various solutions and urged contractors to mobilize workers and machinery to accelerate progress.
This involved mobilizing workers, engineers, and machinery, divided into dozens of construction teams with 3 shifts and 4 crews. Workers worked in shifts, day and night, including during Tet (Lunar New Year) and other holidays. As a result, the workload increased rapidly.
To date, the construction progress of the Nhon Trach bridge has reached 77.55%.
The contractor has installed 44 girders on the Ho Chi Minh City side of the bridge approach and 24 girders on the Dong Nai province side.
The My Thuan Project Management Board is requesting the Ministry of Transport to consult with local authorities and the inter-ministerial working group to consider and support the acceleration of procedures according to regulations so that the mines can be exploited and sand can be transported to the construction site. At the same time, they are requesting early approval of changes to some technical solutions, especially solutions for treating weak soil foundations to ensure the quality of the project and shorten construction time.
In June 2024, the Ministry of Transport submitted a proposal to the Prime Minister requesting consideration and approval of an adjustment to the investment plan to increase the capital for Project 1A, Tan Van - Nhon Trach section (phase 1) of Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3 from over 6,955 billion VND to over 9,268 billion VND.
The plan involves increasing the total investment to build another Nhon Trach bridge similar to the one currently under construction, aiming to expand the route. Simultaneously, it includes the construction of an intelligent transportation system (ITS), an electronic toll collection (ETC) system, vehicle weight inspection stations, and several other technical solutions.
The Nhon Trach Bridge, connecting Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City) and Nhon Trach District (Dong Nai Province), is gradually taking shape.
Package CW2 (the 5.6km long approach roads at both ends of the Nhon Trach bridge) is valued at over 1,000 billion VND and is being implemented by a consortium of contractors including Dongbu Corporation (South Korea) and VNCN E&C Construction and Engineering Investment Joint Stock Company (Vietnam).
The project commenced in May 2023 and is scheduled for completion in September 2025.
The Nhon Trach Bridge is a key transportation project, of significant importance to the socio-economic development of the Southeast region. Upon completion, this bridge will help shorten travel time between Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City, promoting trade and socio-economic development in the area.
The 'ghost city' of Nhon Trach is desolate, becoming a place for buffalo to graze after 20 years.
