Despite numerous difficulties, particularly the significant impact of weather conditions on production and consumption, in July 2024, TKV made efforts to manage production, and all monthly and cumulative targets for the first seven months of the year were met and exceeded the plan.

Due to the impact of heavy rain, coal consumption, especially for power plants, has faced many difficulties. Electricity generation is mainly prioritized for hydropower, and the total volume of coal registered by thermal power plants has decreased by 865,000 tons compared to the beginning of the month. Heavy rain has also directly affected production conditions for both open-pit and underground mines.

The corporation proactively took measures to prevent and mitigate the effects of storms and floods, improved production efficiency, and strived to maximize output, essentially achieving the production and business targets and plans set for July 2024.

Specifically, raw coal production reached 2.63 million tons; coal consumption reached 3 million tons; overburden removal reached 8.9 million m3; tunnel excavation exceeded 23,200 meters; alumina production reached 114,000 tons; copper concentrate production reached 9,820 tons; electricity production and consumption reached 815 million kWh…

In the first seven months of the year, the production of raw coal reached over 23 million tons, equivalent to 60% of the annual plan; coal consumption reached 29.1 million tons, equivalent to 58.2% of the annual plan. The electricity and industrial explosives production sectors, and the basic mechanical engineering sector completed their planned targets, while the mineral sector achieved outstanding results. Specifically, the production of converted alumina reached 848,900 tons, equivalent to 65.3% of the annual plan; copper concentrate reached 70,100 tons, equivalent to 65.5% of the annual plan. The Group's total revenue is estimated at VND 100,700 billion.

General Director of the Group, Dang Thanh Hai, chaired the online meeting on production management for August 2024.

Speaking at the August 2024 online production management briefing, the Group's General Director, Dang Thanh Hai, requested a focus on tightening production safety and storm prevention measures, given the forecast of continued heavy rainfall in August.

In addition, continue to review and promptly report to competent authorities on the implementation status and application for mining licenses for coal and mineral projects; strengthen cooperation with EVN on issues related to coal consumption for electricity generation, and focus on preparing for the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam Coal Corporation, now Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group (October 10, 1994 - October 10, 2024).

Entering August 2024, TKV (Vietnam Coal and Mineral Group) planned to produce 2.78 million tons of raw coal; consume 3.25 million tons; remove a total of 9.95 million m3 of overburden; excavate 23,830 meters of tunnels; produce 114,000 tons of alumina; produce 2,200 tons of copper plates; and generate 640 million kWh of electricity…
