According to the leaders of Binh Tan District People's Committee, the number of 5-year-old children entering kindergarten in the district is 6,878; the number of 6-year-old children entering grade 1 is 10,196; and the number of 5th-grade students entering grade 6 is 10,530. Binh Tan District is currently lacking 1,226 classrooms for primary and secondary levels.
With a large number of school-aged children and a limited number of classrooms, the district has set a public investment target for the 2020-2025 period focused on school projects.
For the period 2024-2025, the district has been allocated 10,231 billion VND for 101 projects, including 42 projects in the education and training sector with 4,819 billion VND. The district is also developing a plan for public investment in schools and classrooms, aiming to build 700-1,000 classrooms by 2025.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Binh Tan district will put into operation 7 new public schools (1 kindergarten, 5 primary schools and 1 secondary school) with 204 classrooms, bringing the total number of classrooms to 4,061 (2,131 public schools).
With an estimated 124,237 students (97,907 in public schools), the locality has essentially secured enough school places for them. Thanks to the construction of 7 new school buildings, it is expected that in the next school year, the number of students per class in primary schools will decrease (to 37 students/class), while the number of students per class in lower secondary schools will remain stable at 45 students/class compared to the previous school year.

In 2025, Binh Tan District will continue to invest in 16 schools, bringing the total number of classrooms to 2,238. Of these, the district will build two schools on the land previously cleared from the Binh Hung Hoa cemetery.
Furthermore, the People's Committee of Binh Tan District has proposed that Ho Chi Minh City continue to allocate medium-term investment for the period 2026-2030 for 23 schools with 709 classrooms. The district will coordinate with relevant departments to review vacant land owned by corporations for school construction; and call for socialized investment in primary and secondary schools.
This year marks the highest number of new classrooms put into use in Binh Tan District in many years. This is a testament to the district's efforts to achieve its educational goals for the 2021-2025 period, reaching the target of 300 schools per 10,000 people of school age, as set forth in the district Party Congress resolution. In particular, it represents a step-by-step implementation of the project to build 4,500 classrooms to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country.
