Earlier, at around 1:30 AM on the same day, while people were sleeping, they heard an explosion at the plastic goods stall owned by Ms. BTB (55 years old, residing in Chau Phu district).
Seeing the fire spreading rapidly and proving difficult to control, residents quickly raised the alarm and reported it to the authorities.
The fire was brought under control around 3 a.m.
At the scene after the fire was extinguished, many items were completely destroyed. Only the metal frames of 15 stalls remained. The burned stalls sold handbags, hats, shoes, plastic goods, etc., all of which are highly flammable materials.
Ms. N. (45 years old, residing in Chau Phu district, owner of a kiosk that caught fire) said: "I'm still in shock about the incident. The fire broke out in the middle of the night, startling many people who were sleeping, leaving them no time to react. I was planning to import goods to sell during Tet (Lunar New Year), and with all my goods burned like this, I really don't know what to do."
