The ASEAN Flag Raising Ceremony is an official activity proudly celebrated by the 10 ASEAN member countries on August 8 every year. This activity aims to spread and promote ASEAN identity, affirming the determination to unite and cooperate for the common aspiration of long-term peace and prosperity of Southeast Asian countries under the common roof of the ASEAN Community.

Attending the Flag Raising Ceremony were Ambassadors of ASEAN countries and ASEAN partner countries, leaders of agencies including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, Ministry of Information and Communications and Hanoi People's Committee.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet affirmed the increasingly strong role and position of ASEAN. In the context of a volatile, unpredictable world situation with conflicts and divisions, ASEAN continues to be a model of success in regional connectivity and cooperation.

The most important achievements of ASEAN over the past 57 years are the peaceful, stable and cooperative political environment that has been maintained and strengthened; close regional economic connectivity, sustainable growth, inclusiveness and timely adaptation to new trends; a harmonious and sharing society where people are always placed at the center and the spirit of the ASEAN Community is always promoted.

With strategic vision as the orientation, solidarity as the fulcrum, central role as the foundation, and specific programs and plans as tools, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet believes that ASEAN has all the conditions to adapt harmoniously to the fluctuations of the times and continue to develop strongly in the coming decades.

With the policy of "ASEAN cooperation and integration is the top priority and strategic choice", Vietnam has always strived and contributed wholeheartedly to a united and strong ASEAN.

In the coming time, Vietnam will continue to work with ASEAN countries to maintain and promote achievements, shoulder and share, cooperate and support Laos to successfully implement the goals and priorities under the theme "Promoting Connectivity and Resilience" of the ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2024, laying an important foundation for the sustainable development of the ASEAN Community in the future.

In particular, following the success of the ASEAN Future Forum 2024 with the theme "Building a fast-growing, sustainable, people-centered ASEAN Community", Vietnam will continue to host this event scheduled for April 2025 to contribute to the common work of the Association.

Vietnam will also promote its role as a bridge to further connect ASEAN and its partners, especially as the coordinator of ASEAN-New Zealand and ASEAN-UK relations for the 2024-2027 period, contributing to peace and common prosperity in the region and the world, realizing the vision of a “self-reliant, dynamic, creative and people-centered” ASEAN.
