Accordingly, the City Food Safety Steering Committee is headed by Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh. Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Vu Thu Ha is the Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee; Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen is the Deputy Head of the Steering Committee. The Steering Committee consists of 24 members who are leaders of relevant departments, branches and units of the City.
The Steering Committee is responsible for developing and implementing programs and plans on food safety; researching and advising the City People's Committee on policies, mechanisms, solutions for state management of food safety; advising the City People's Committee on directing and coordinating activities between departments, branches, unions, districts, towns and relevant agencies and organizations in inter-sectoral handling to ensure food safety. In case of complicated developments in food safety that affect people's health on a large scale, the Steering Committee promptly recommends and advises the City People's Committee on handling measures.
At the same time, the Steering Committee is responsible for advising the City People's Committee to urge and inspect the implementation of food safety work of departments and branches; People's Committees - Food Safety Steering Committees of districts, towns and cities in the city.
The City People's Committee requests departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of districts, towns, relevant units and organizations to provide information and documents to serve the implementation of the tasks of the Steering Committee; report monthly, quarterly, 6-month, 9-month and annual on the activities of the Steering Committee; and report ad hoc at the request of the City People's Committee.
In addition, the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Health (the Standing Agency of the Steering Committee) to be responsible for ensuring the operating conditions of the Steering Committee, using the apparatus of the Department of Health to organize the implementation of the tasks of the Standing Agency. At the same time, invite departments, branches, unions; People's Committees of districts, towns and representatives of relevant agencies and organizations to attend meetings and working sessions of the Steering Committee; summarize and report monthly, quarterly, 6-monthly, 9-monthly, annually and ad hoc as required by the Steering Committee.
