On August 5, Information from the Quang Tri Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board (PMU) said that on July 25, this unit had a meeting to terminate the contract with the contractor for the Hung Vuong Road Project connecting the East-West Economic Corridor and the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone (abbreviated as the Hung Vuong Road Project), which is the Joint Venture of Asia Construction Investment Group Joint Stock Company HPP and Dong Do Group Joint Stock Company.

Hung Vuong Road project belongs to the Basic Infrastructure Project for Comprehensive Development of Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Quang Tri Provinces (BIIG2) with a total length of nearly 4.2 km, including 2 routes: Hung Vuong Road and Bao Dai Road passing through Trieu Ai Commune, Trieu Phong District.

The project is invested by the Department of Planning and Investment, entrusted to the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board for management. The joint venture of Asia Construction Investment Group Joint Stock Company HPP and Dong Do Group Joint Stock Company is the construction contractor. The project was signed in December 2020, the contract implementation time was adjusted to May 30, 2024 with a construction contract value of more than 64 billion VND. Currently, about 24% has been disbursed.

During the implementation process, the locality has handed over the 2.1/2.1 km Hung Vuong route to the construction unit, and the Bao Dai branch route is 450 m/2.1 km. However, after 4 years, the slow and sluggish construction has left the entire project unfinished, affecting the lives and production of the people.

According to the leader of the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, the reason for the delay in the project's progress is partly due to the impact of COVID-19, high material prices, financial difficulties of the contractor, slow site clearance work... Although, in the past, the unit has issued many documents urging and reminding the contractor to speed up the construction progress and complete the project according to the contract. However, up to now, the construction volume has only reached about 10%, which has caused much frustration among the people.

After terminating the contract with the contractor, the project investor is currently coordinating with relevant units to inspect and confirm the volume of work performed at the site to finalize the contract in August.

In addition, the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board is coordinating with design consultants and supervision consultants to review and adjust the construction drawing design and update the bid package estimate as a basis for reporting to the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee to approve the formation of a new bid package, to organize the selection of contractors to continue implementation./.
