In the late afternoon, thousands of people and tourists from all over the country flocked to the 18/10 Park Square in Cam Ranh City (Khanh Hoa) to visit and shop for the 2024 lobster festival, organized for the first time by the People's Committee of Cam Ranh City with the theme "Bright Blue Bay".

Mr. Pham Van Ky, a resident of Nha Trang City, heard that Cam Ranh City was organizing a lobster festival, so he brought his family to visit and bought 3kg of fresh lobster as gifts for his relatives. Mr. Ky said that this was an "exceptionally cheap" price. Cam Ranh lobster has long been famous for its large size and delicious taste even when simply prepared like steaming, grilling, making porridge, etc.

After buying fresh lobsters, people can request to have the lobsters processed on the spot, into dishes such as grilled cheese, steamed with beer and lemongrass, cooked in soup, roasted with salt, with garlic butter sauce, etc. In particular, the festival has a lobster culinary performance, setting a Vietnamese record of "120 dishes made from Cam Ranh lobster".

Tourists enjoy buying fresh lobsters at the festival.

On this occasion, the locality subsidized the price of fresh lobsters for stalls to sell at 800,000-900,000 VND/kg, including processing costs, lower than the general market price, to stimulate shopping. Currently, Cam Ranh City has about 70,000 - 80,000 cages raising lobsters of all kinds, with an annual output of 2,600 - 3,000 tons, considered the "lobster capital" of the country.

Mr. Ngo Huu Hien, Vice Chairman of Cam Ranh City People's Committee, said that this is a culinary cultural event to promote Cam Ranh lobster products, thereby creating a strong influence to attract tourism, building a unique Cam Ranh lobster culinary brand rich in local cultural identity.

Contribute to tourism development in the "lobster capital"

Taking place from August 3-11, according to statistics, the lobster festival attracts about 6,000 visitors each night. It is estimated that during the 8 days of the festival, Cam Ranh City welcomed about 40,000 domestic and foreign tourists.

Cam Ranh City is located 60km from Nha Trang City and 10km from Cam Ranh Airport to the South, with great potential for tourism development as it possesses a beautiful blend of mountains and sea, many separate and independent beaches with different shapes and sizes, with no shortage of depth, clear blue water, gentle waves, smooth white sand, and hard sand.

According to Mr. Ngo Huu Hien, this is an opportunity for Cam Ranh city to introduce to domestic and foreign friends a young city, blessed with natural resources, a synchronous transportation system, and a unique cultural and culinary picture of the coastal region.

“This is also an opportunity for Cam Ranh City to attract tourism, aiming to become a tourism - logistics city according to the orientation of Resolution No. 09-NQ/TW of the Politburo on building and developing Khanh Hoa province to 2030, with a vision to 2045,” said Mr. Ngo Huu Hien.

Cam Ranh City - Khanh Hoa expects to welcome 40,000 visitors through the lobster festival.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, Director of Khanh Hoa Province Department of Tourism, said that in recent years, the province has always focused on promoting local culinary values ​​in tourism activities, coordinating with tourism businesses to develop menus that take advantage of products, raw materials, and the rich and diverse culinary culture of Khanh Hoa. Some local specialties such as fish noodles, banh canh, banh xeo, etc., especially Cam Ranh lobster, have also been introduced to luxury hotels and resorts.

Khanh Hoa tourism industry is building unique tourism products in the coming period, prioritizing the development of tourism products associated with promoting local culinary culture values ​​such as organizing events and culinary tours, encouraging upgrading of traditional local dishes to serve tourists,.../.
