The 2024 Golden Kite Awards has the largest number of participating films ever

On the morning of August 10, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Cinema Association held a press conference to inform about the 2024 Golden Kite Awards.

According to Chairman of the Vietnam Cinema Association Do Lenh Hung Tu, the 2024 Kite Awards, taking place from September 3 to 10 in Nha Trang City, will continue to bring a rich and innovative program of activities in terms of content, ensuring both high professionalism and wide interaction with the audience and public of Khanh Hoa province in activities with the active participation of artists, actors, filmmakers and the community of cinema lovers through media platforms and social networks.

The main event of the award is the Golden Kite Award Ceremony, which will take place on the evening of September 10, at the That Theater Square (part of the Vega City Nha Trang project), with the participation of more than 1,000 delegates, artists, and actors from home and abroad. In addition, within the framework of the 2024 Golden Kite Award, there will be other activities such as: Screening of films participating in the 2024 Golden Kite Award taking place from September 3-9; A series of talk shows about works participating in the 2024 Golden Kite on the fanpage of the Vietnam Cinema Association; Artist-audience exchange program; Flag-raising ceremony to welcome the dawn at April 2 Square; Workshop "Vietnamese Cinema since the country's reunification: 50 years - a journey"; The Wall of Fame honors the works and individuals who won the Golden Kite Award over the past 20 years (2003-2022) with 433 stars, including 107 works, 297 individual authors, artists, and outstanding filmmakers, and 29 veteran filmmakers who have made outstanding contributions to Vietnamese cinema... "Entering the 2024 season, the Wall of Fame has been added with 33 more stars, the Golden Kite Awards of 2023, and is waiting to be extended with the best works and authors of the upcoming 2024 Golden Kite Awards," said Mr. Do Lenh Hung Tu.

According to the Organizing Committee, up to now, there are 16 feature films, 18 television series, 41 documentaries, 18 scientific films, 14 animated films, 50 short films and 4 research and critical theory works registered for the Award.

The Chairman of the Cinema Association said that there has never been a year with such a large number of participating films, especially short films, documentaries and scientific films, as this year. "The topics are diverse, the genres are diverse, there are films ordered by the State and also private films, there are commercial films and art films, that is a good thing. The registration deadline is August 15, hopefully the number of participating films will continue to increase," added Mr. Do Lenh Hung Tu.

The Organizing Committee of the 2024 Canh Dieu Award officially accepts registrations and works and projects for the award before July 15, 2024 (for television series), before July 30, 2024 (for theoretical and critical research works), before July 30, 2024 (for scientific films, documentaries, animations, short films) and before August 15, 2024 (for feature films).

The Organizing Committee will award Golden Kite, Silver Kite and Certificates of Merit to the best works in the following categories: Short film; Animated film; Scientific film; Documentary film; Television feature film; Feature film and Research work, theory and criticism of cinema and television.

The individual Golden Kite Award will be Awarded to Vietnamese individuals (including Vietnamese people with foreign nationality and foreigners with Vietnamese nationality) participating in making films whose owners (or co-owners) are produced in Vietnam; including: Screenwriters (except for screenwriters of films remade from foreign scripts/films), directors, cameramen, artists, sound engineers, musicians, main actors, main actresses, supporting actors, supporting actresses.
