On August 9, information from the Nghe An Department of Education and Training said that on the occasion of the 2023-2024 school year summary, the education sector assessed that the number of teachers did not meet the requirements of education and training and the conversion rate of teachers/students according to regulations.
The large shortage of teachers affects the management and improvement of education quality.
From there, the Nghe An Department of Education and Training proposed that ministries and branches consider consulting the Central agency to add 7,015 more teachers to meet the needs in the 2024-2025 school year.
Specifically, preschool level has 1,688 positions, primary level has 2,692 positions; secondary level has 1,795 positions and high school level has 840 positions (of which 220 positions receive salaries from revenue sources).
In April 2024, Nghe An Provincial People's Council approved the addition of 2,187 teacher positions for the 2023-2024 school year to the Department of Education and Training, People's Committees of districts, cities and towns.
Accordingly, the preschool block has 1,352 positions; the primary block has 369 positions; the secondary block has 441 positions and the high school block has 25 positions.
Currently, many localities in Nghe An province are recruiting teachers according to the assigned payroll to be ready for the new school year.
On August 2, 2024, at the preliminary meeting of the Steering Committee for Administrative Reform of Nghe An province in the first 6 months of the year, Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Thai Thanh Quy assigned the Department of Home Affairs to control the number of teacher recruitment in localities, requiring it to be done quickly and objectively.
