Quang Ninh - UNESCO experts have begun field appraisal of the World Heritage nomination dossier for the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Scenic Landscape Complex.

Currently, a delegation of experts from the World Heritage Committee (WHC) and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) are in Quang Ninh to begin field assessment of the relics and sites of Quang Ninh in the dossier. It is expected that this afternoon (August 7), the delegation will conduct field assessment at Yen Tu National Forest and Relic Site. Quang Ninh has 3 locations in the nomination dossier, including: Yen Tu, Uong Bi City; Tran Dynasty Relic Site, Dong Trieu Town and Bach Dang Ancient Stake Site, Quang Yen Town. It is expected that the representative of the member country with the heritage will defend the nomination dossier in June 2025. If recognized, this will be the first World Heritage Site of Vietnam located in 3 different localities: Quang Ninh, Hai Duong and Bac Giang. The dossier of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac relic and landscape complex includes 6 special national relic sites and about 20 relic sites strictly protected according to the Law on Cultural Heritage. This place has many religious and spiritual works worshiping gods and national heroes, especially cultural relics related to the Truc Lam Zen sect and Buddhist King Tran Nhan Tong. 20 relic sites in 3 localities have been selected to be included in the dossier to argue and prove the global value of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac relic and landscape complex according to 3 criteria: 3, 5, 6 of UNESCO.

Previously, in June 2024, a delegation of international experts from UNESCO/ICOMOS together with Vietnamese experts conducted a survey and field assessment at the Bach Dang stake fields of Quang Yen town to contribute comments to the World Heritage nomination dossier for the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son and Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex to submit to UNESCO for recognition as a World Heritage Site. The delegation conducted a survey and field assessment at the Bach Dang Museum, Yen Giang Stake Field, Dong Van Muoi Stake Field, Dong Ma Ngua Stake Field; listened to representatives of the People's Committee of Quang Yen town, departments and branches of Quang Ninh province report on the implementation of the work contents to build the dossier to submit to UNESCO for recognition of the Bach Dang stake fields in the Yen Tu-Vinh Nghiem-Con Son and Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex in the three provinces of Quang Ninh, Bac Giang and Hai Duong for nomination as a World Heritage Site.Laodong.vn
