Major Thai Phuong Nga (born in 1985), working at PC11 Department, Nghe An Provincial Police, was born into a family with a father who is a police officer, a mother who is a teacher, and a younger brother who is currently a university lecturer. Since childhood, she dreamed of becoming a soldier.
"20 years ago, when I found out that my university entrance exam results were 0.5 points short of passing the public security exam, I cried a lot and then filed for a review. My parents also spent many nights encouraging and convincing me to stop being sad.

After that, I decided to enroll in the Faculty of Literature and Pedagogy, Vinh University. After a few days of enrollment, I received a notice of admission to the People's Police High School 1. I have never regretted my decision and am always honored and proud to be a soldier," Nga shared.

After graduating, with a passion for her hometown's folk songs, Ms. Phuong Nga took the opportunity to self-study, improve her knowledge of music, practice techniques and enrich her musical repertoire. With her sweet voice, and soulful, emotional, "fiery, passionate" singing style, Ms. Nga quickly conquered the hearts of listeners.
Ms. Nga shared her chance to come to folk songs: "Since I was a child, I was a member of the dance team of my class and school. In 2005, a singer in the art troupe asked for leave because of illness, I tried singing his folk song and was surprised to receive applause from everyone. Since then, instead of being in the dance team, I have performed folk songs.
Every time there is a cultural program, I sing a solo song and a duet. Up to now, nearly 20 years later, in addition to work, I am still passionate about the folk songs of my homeland."
As a People's Police officer, Ms. Thai Phuong Nga not only excellently completed all assigned tasks, but also contributed to "renewing" people's spiritual life by possessing a beautiful, sweet, emotional voice, imbued with the soul of Nghe An.
Wishing to contribute to preserving and spreading the traditional cultural values of her hometown Nghe An, Phuong Nga has participated in many performances, introducing Nghe folk music to a wide audience in the country.
"It is very difficult for women to work as police officers because they have to balance work and family. But because I have a little talent and passion, I always try to learn to improve my singing voice. In addition to office work and family work, I often practice songs and gain experience in each performance," Ms. Nga added.
Thanks to her tireless efforts and dedication, high sense of responsibility and enthusiasm, Phuong Nga has achieved many achievements in her work and won many high awards in competitions. In 2021, she was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Public Security for winning the B prize in the contest "Reading Culture Ambassador in the People's Public Security".
