This is one of the biggest festivals of the K'Ho people in Lam Dong, restored to restore, preserve and promote the values of the indigenous cultural identity of this locality.

This event is part of a series of events in response to the 10th Da Lat Flower Festival in 2024, lasting from December 5-31 in Lam Dong province.
From early morning, in the heavy rain, hundreds of locals and tourists were present at the Klong Trao 1 Community Tourism Model (the model also opened on the same day).
K'Ho ethnic people dressed in traditional costumes, participating in an important traditional festival of their people to the bustling sound of gongs.
At the area where the New Rice Celebration takes place, a pole is erected right in the central area, at the foot of the pole is a tray of offerings with a jar of rice wine.
Nearby is a buffalo tied for the buffalo stabbing ceremony, along with a tray of offerings. To begin the ceremony, the village elder stands at the base of the central tree, blows three trumpet blasts and respectfully prays to Yang, asking the gods to allow the village to hold the festival.
The prayer reads: “Oh God!... Oh villagers, after a year of hard work with the fields, today the rice has filled the barn, the jars of rice wine have been opened. We gather here to thank God and the gods for giving the village a year of favorable weather and wind, for the fields to flourish…”.
After the prayer, from both sides, the Gong and Xoang dance team consisting of dozens of men and women, old and young, dressed in K'Ho ethnic costumes, walked and danced in a circle around the pole.
Meanwhile, the village elder and his assistants sacrificed a rooster; used the rooster's blood to smear on the pole, the gong and the foreheads of the village members to pray for luck and health for everyone in the village.
The festival also includes a buffalo stabbing ritual (simulated dance) demonstrating the traditional way of eating buffalo from ancient times of the nation and the village elder performs the procedure of opening the jar, pouring wine to offer to Yang and the gods, then inviting wine, putting beaded bracelets and copper bracelets on guests and members.
The festival begins with dance and singing performances of the K'Ho ethnic group such as "Dancing down the mountain" , "Hoi Yang Koi" , "Oi Mi - Brotherly love ", "Tay Nguyen Symphony "... performed by the art troupe of the K'Ho ethnic group villages of Gung Re commune...
According to the rice cultivation cycle, after the harvest, the people of the Central Highlands often hold a new rice celebration ceremony, both to thank Giang and the gods for giving them a good harvest and a prosperous life, and also to give villagers the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of their labor together... This is a ceremony imbued with the belief in animism, expressing the unique cultural identity of the people here. |
