After a fairly good recovery session last weekend, the stock market turned sharply down in the first trading session of the week due to the still high selling pressure and shrinking cash flow. Foreign investors continued to net buy on the HOSE floor, in which they unexpectedly net bought more than VND1,000 billion worth of VHM shares, equivalent to 26 million VHM shares.

On the Vietnamese stock market trading session on October 23, VN-Index fell below the 1,100 point mark again. The strong selling pressure from the beginning of the session caused VN-Index to fall sharply, at one point dropping nearly 20 points. The market was flooded with red. The VN30-Index group had 27/30 stocks falling, contributing to the VN-Index losing nearly 16 points. Only SSB increased by 1.43%, VIC increased by nearly 1% and VHM remained at the reference level.
Banking stocks fell across the board. Large-cap stocks except SSB remained green, VPB fell 2.55%, VIB fell 1.63%, STB fell 1.33%, HDB fell 1.41%; CTG, MBB, BID, ACB, TCB fell nearly 1%...
The group of securities stocks decreased quite sharply with SSI down 2.24%, VND down 2.76%, VCI down 3.49%, VIX down 4%, FTS down 3.15%, VDS down 3.02%, BSI down 2.23%. Only a few stocks increased, HCM increased nearly, CTS increased 2.16%.
The real estate group was differentiated but many stocks decreased sharply such as: VRE decreased by 2.26%, NVL decreased by 3.26%, SZC decreased by 2.09%, CII decreased by 4%, ITA decreased by 2.48%, AGG decreased by 2.46%, HBC decreased by 2.96%, IDC decreased by 1.61%, DIG decreased by 1.47%, CTD decreased by 2.95%... On the contrary, VIC, NVL, DXG, HDC, CRE, SCR, NLG kept the green color but only increased by less than 1%.
In addition, the manufacturing, energy, and retail stocks also traded quite negatively. In particular, the manufacturing group had VNM down 2.9%, HPG down 1.44%, MSN down 4.35%, SAB down 3.14%, GVR down 3.66%, DGC down 3.74%, DCM down 2.09%, DHG down 5.09%, DPM down 2.89%, VHC down 3.48%, ANV down 4.06%... Similarly, the retail group had MWG down 3.8%, PNJ down 1.46%, and FRT down 1.9%...
At the end of the trading session, VN-Index decreased by 14.5 points (1.31%) to 1,093.53 points with 398 stocks decreasing, 91 stocks increasing and 64 stocks remaining unchanged. At the end of the session on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, HNX-Index also decreased by 2.19 points (0.96%) to 226.26 points with 100 stocks decreasing, 74 stocks increasing and 59 stocks remaining unchanged. Despite the sharp decrease, market liquidity was quite low, with total trading value across the market at around VND14,000 billion.
Foreign investors net bought 85 billion VND on HOSE, including strong net buying of VHM shares with a total value of 1,038 billion VND, contributing to keeping this stock from falling and standing at the reference level.
