With an excellent final round of 65, Niemann closed the tournament at Club de Golf Chapultepec with a total score of -16, 3 strokes ahead of his two pursuers, Bryson DeChambeau and Lucas Herbert.

The 26-year-old Chilean golfer, who won at Mayakoba (Mexico) last year, had an incredible comeback against DeChambeau - who led after round 2 - and Herbert - who had just equaled the course record with a round of 61 strokes.

Niemann showed absolute composure and precision throughout the round, recording 7 birdies and only 1 bogey. He did not make a single bogey for the entire first 9 holes, before closing with a sweet birdie at the par-3 18th hole to win.

“It was unbelievable. The crowd gave me so much energy today,” said Niemann, still drenched in champagne as he celebrated on the 18th green. “To win in Mexico City, where my mother was cheering for me for the first time abroad, was an unforgettable moment.”

This victory marks Niemann's fifth LIV Golf title in his career, helping him tie the record for most titles in the tournament's history with Brooks Koepka.

More importantly, it also officially earned him a wild card to the US Open at Oakmont in June. According to the rules, this spot is awarded to golfers who are not yet eligible, but are in the top 3 of the LIV Golf individual rankings as of May 19. Niemann has secured a major spot, although there is still one tournament left before the deadline.

“I knew I should go to the qualifiers, but honestly, it wasn't what I wanted,” Niemann laughed. “Now I don't have to.”

The Chapultepec Golf Club, located at an altitude of more than 2,300 meters above sea level, is a real challenge for golfers. But Niemann still excelled with a green-hit rate of 88.89%, successfully saving par on both "missed" greens, and especially hitting the longest tee shot of the tournament - 404.5 yards at hole 12.

This was Niemann's third victory of the season after Adelaide and Singapore. Having played in The Masters and been invited to the PGA Championship and The Open, the Chilean golfer will play all four majors in the same year for the first time since 2023.
