Supporting women in starting businesses and building sustainable economies has always been one of the key tasks that the Women's Union at all levels in Quang Ninh province has focused on implementing. In recent times, the Women's Union at all levels has implemented many practical programs to create conditions for women to borrow capital, train skills, and connect with the market, thereby helping women to be steadfast on the path to starting a business. From activities supporting women to start businesses, many women have been bold and confident in starting and creating creative businesses on different scales.

Implementing start-up and business activities, the Women's Union of Quang Ninh province has specified and focused on the project "Supporting women to start a business in the period of 2017-2025" (Project 939). Accordingly, the Women's Union of the province has directed local Unions at all levels to proactively develop plans to effectively integrate into annual activities, programs and movements based on the actual situation. In particular, focusing on promoting the implementation of the movements "Women help each other develop family economy", "Women's groups link to develop economy".

At the same time, support women to borrow capital through effectively exploiting preferential loans from the Bank for Social Policies and the Women's Support Funds of the Association. Strengthen coordination with departments, branches and organizations to organize training courses, experience sharing workshops; meet with entrepreneurs and business households to equip knowledge, orientation and foster business ideas for women with the ability and conditions to start a business. The Association at all levels also prioritizes support for start-up models owned by women, or with 50% or more of female workers participating in the model, and projects to develop production according to the value chain.

According to information from the Women's Union of Quang Ninh province, the whole province currently has over 20 types of economic models at the group/team and household scale, attracting 8,717 female members to participate.

In the first quarter of 2025, the Women's Union at all levels in the province coordinated with the Social Policy Bank to disburse over VND 206 billion to 2,765 households. The total outstanding loan balance entrusted through the Social Policy Bank of the Union at all levels reached over VND 2,480 billion, supporting 35,535 households with 1,013 savings and loan groups, creating jobs for tens of thousands of female workers.

In addition, start-up support activities have also been promoted. In Ha Long City, the City Women's Union has guided and mobilized 774 members to participate in 25 economic models. One of the typical models is the Viet Hung Agriculture - Forestry - Fishery Cooperative, established by Ms. Nguyen Thuy Ha (Son Duong Commune, Ha Long City) and 10 members in 2021. With the support of the local Women's Union, the Cooperative has linked up with 65 households in the highlands, creating stable jobs for many women. Notably, in 2024, the Cooperative successfully exported 1.5 tons of guava to Cambodia, affirming the quality and potential of local clean agricultural products.

Through that, members and women in the province are given more motivation and knowledge to boldly build ideas, develop start-up models, contributing to enhancing the role of women in socio-economic development in the locality.
