ANTD.VN - Although the demand for pork is forecast to increase and African swine fever is still complicated in many localities, the price of live pigs may not exceed 70,000 VND/kg in August.

Giá thịt lợn hơi được dự báo khó vượt 70.000 đồng/kg

Pork price is forecast to hardly exceed 70,000 VND/kg

According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), in July 2024, the price of live pigs nationwide tended to decrease by 1,000 - 4,000 VND/kg compared to the previous month and fluctuated between 62,000 - 66,000 VND/kg.

Although the price of live pigs decreased throughout July, the price of pork remained high, around 90,000 - 92,000 VND/kg.

At Hanoi's traditional markets, pork prices remained stable as before, at 120,000 - 150,000 VND/kg depending on the type.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the domestic meat market has not fluctuated much, and supply has always met consumer demand. The total pig herd in the country is estimated to have increased by about 3% by the end of July 2024. Supply is quite abundant, but purchasing power for this item is not high.

Therefore, although African swine fever is still complicated in many localities, causing unstable livestock farming, especially in the household sector; August is also the time when students return to school, the demand for pork increases, but many opinions say that the possibility of live pig prices exceeding 70,000 VND/kg is difficult.

With current prices, farmers are still making a profit, so pork supply is expected to be guaranteed until the end of the year and Tet.
