The People's Committee of Binh Dinh province has just approved an investment policy of more than 510 billion VND to expand and renovate the Dong Da - Hoa Lu intersection, an important gateway to Quy Nhon city.
The project aims to solve the traffic congestion that often occurs in this area. Especially during rush hour, due to the large volume of vehicles, especially heavy trucks from Quy Nhon port moving towards National Highway 19.
The main content of the project is to expand Tran Hung Dao Street at the intersection with Nguyen Tat Thanh Street. Specifically, it will be expanded from 19m (4 lanes for motor vehicles) to 22m (6 lanes for motor vehicles).
In addition, the project also renovates the roundabout, moves the existing roundabout island to the Northeast and increases the curve radius at the location where Tran Hung Dao Street turns right onto Dong Da Street. The above plan will increase traffic capacity and reduce congestion.
The project will invest in completing the drainage system, lighting and traffic safety items. At the same time, the site clearance plan will affect 35 households and companies, of which 24 households and 2 companies will have to be completely cleared, 9 households will have to be partially cleared and Tay Son Secondary School will be relocated.
According to the plan of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee, the project will start construction in November this year, after completing the survey and preparing the feasibility study report.
According to the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, this project is part of the planning orientation to expand Quy Nhon city to the Northeast, with Thi Nai lagoon as the center.
In the near future, the new administrative center of Binh Dinh and Gia Lai provinces is expected to be built in Nhon Hoi Economic Zone, so the problem of increasing traffic volume between Quy Nhon City and Nhon Hoi, through the Dong Da - Hoa Lu intersection is certain.
The investment in expanding and renovating this intersection aims to increase traffic capacity, improve traffic safety and urban beautification, meeting the socio-economic development needs of Binh Dinh province after the merger as well as in the future.
Previously, on October 19, 2024, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province issued a decision approving the investment policy for the construction of the project to handle landslides on the slope of the extended Nguyen Tat Thanh road, right at the Dong Da - Hoa Lu intersection, with a total project investment of more than 65.4 billion VND.
The project was completed, the "bottleneck" connecting Nguyen Tat Thanh Street with Dong Da - Hoa Lu intersection (section near the foot of Ba Hoa mountain) was removed, causing traffic congestion that had existed for more than 2 years.
