Recently, Ms. Qiu shared that the secret to her longevity lies in simple habits: eating three regular meals a day, taking a walk after meals, and going to bed at 8 p.m. Although she is over 100 years old, she still does housework such as lighting the fire and feeding the geese. Notably, the 124-year-old woman can also climb stairs easily.
Her favorite food is pumpkin porridge, squash and mashed corn, topped with a spoonful of lard. "She loves lard but now she only eats it in moderation on the advice of her doctor," said her granddaughter, Taohua.
According to her, Qiu's optimistic attitude is her outstanding feature. Taohua said: "She never complains. After every time she encounters difficulties, she usually stays silent for a while, then laughs and becomes more positive."
The life of this centenarian woman has been full of tragedy. At the age of 40, her husband passed away, leaving her to raise four children alone in poverty. At the age of 70, her eldest son passed away, her daughter-in-law remarried, and she took care of her young granddaughter. Qiu is respected by everyone in the village for her resilience.
She used to work as an accountant, doing heavy farm work like plowing and stacking rocks. Currently, Qiu lives with her granddaughter in a three-story house in Sichuan. Her eyesight and hearing have deteriorated a bit, but she is still sharp and witty. She jokes: "My husband, children and siblings have all gone before me. The King of Hell must have forgotten me and hasn't taken me yet."
Qiu's story has attracted the attention of many people. One person called him a "lucky star" and said that an optimistic attitude is the secret to longevity. Another commented: "He has witnessed the incredible history of China for more than a century. His life is truly a legendary journey."
