Attending the program were People's Artist Tran Quoc Chiem - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi Literature and Arts Association; Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi An - Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Literature and Arts Association, Chairman of the Hanoi Folk Arts Association; Sculptor Nguyen Xuan Thuy - Chairman of the Hanoi Fine Arts Association; People's Artist Nguyen Ngoc Anh - Chairman of the Hanoi Dance Artists Association.

Speaking at the event, People's Artist Nguyen Ngoc Anh highlighted the challenges in preserving and promoting the traditional dance heritage of Thang Long - Hanoi in the context of urbanization and strong cultural exchange.

He emphasized: "The process of urbanization and cultural exchange between regions, especially between groups of residents in the process of expanding the boundaries of Hanoi Capital, has posed new challenges for the work of collecting, preserving and promoting cultural heritage values.

In addition, negative impacts from the market economy, such as the commercialization of festivals and the theatricalization of intangible cultural forms, have destroyed the traditional performance environment. Many dances have lost their historical and cultural values.

This is an alarming situation when cultural space, the birthplace and nurturing of traditional cultural values, is narrowed and diluted, if not given proper attention.

With constant efforts in preserving and promoting the beauty of Thang Long traditional dance, the program's Organizing Committee has brought unique and extremely impressive performances.

The drum performance welcoming the Echo of West Lake, performed by three generations of Meritorious Artist Quoc Toan’s family and the drum troupe of Hoi Dinh Quang Ba, Tay Ho, Hanoi, opened the program. Ancient dances such as Bai Bong dance, Trong Bong dance, Giai Oan cut ket, Doi Suoc Hoi Giong dance, Ran Lot dance, Dragon dance and Chay Co dance… all made the audience amazed and delighted.

The program "Preserving and promoting the traditional dance art of Thang Long - Hanoi in 2024" is not only a cultural event, but also a testament to the tireless efforts in preserving and developing the nation's precious artistic heritage.
