Vietnam U17 will participate in the 2025 AFC U17 Championship finals in Saudi Arabia. In the group stage, coach Cristiano Roland and his team will face Australia U17, Japan U17 and UAE U17.

To qualify for the quarter-finals, Vietnam U17 must maintain one of the top two positions in the group. If they do this, the young Vietnamese players will qualify for the U17 World Cup for the first time.

After the second round, U17 Vietnam temporarily ranked third in Group B along with U17 Australia. U17 Japan ranked first in the group after defeating U17 UAE with a score of 4-1, drawing with U17 Vietnam. U17 UAE ranked second thanks to a 2-0 victory over U17 Australia.

According to the tournament rules, the ranking of the groups is calculated according to the number of points. In case of teams being equal on points, the sub-indices considered are the head-to-head results (points, goal difference, number of goals scored in direct matches between teams with equal points), goal difference and number of goals scored in the entire group stage.

If two teams are tied on points or on additional goals in the final match that determines the position to advance, a penalty shootout will be used to determine the winner. In other cases, the ranking position is calculated according to the penalty card points (the team that receives more yellow cards and red cards is ranked lower) and can be drawn.
