The information that Long An will merge into Tay Ninh and place the administrative center in Tay Ninh is incorrect, there has been no official decision from the Central Government.

Yesterday afternoon (April 12), social networks spread information that Long An province would merge into Tay Ninh province, the new name would still be Tay Ninh province and the administrative center would be located in the current location of Tay Ninh province. This news was quickly shared widely at a dizzying speed, causing a stir in public opinion.

However, Mr. Hoang Dinh Can - Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Long An province affirmed: "The information about the administrative center being located in Tay Ninh province is completely incorrect. This is not information issued by a competent authority. People should not share or spread such false information to avoid causing confusion in the community."

According to Mr. Can, after reporting to the leaders and conducting verification, the authorities determined that this was information that appeared online and had not been confirmed by any central authority. Currently, the central government is in the process of discussion and has not made any official decision regarding the merger of provinces.

In addition, Mr. Can also informed that Long An province is implementing the review and rearrangement of commune-level administrative units in accordance with the direction from the Central Government. It is expected that next week, the government will collect public opinions on this rearrangement plan.

In recent years, Long An and Tay Ninh have also been “bright spots” in the overall picture of the key economic region in the South, both prioritizing the development of high-tech industry and agriculture.

Although not leading, both have strategic locations, great economic potential and strong steps in developing infrastructure, industrial zones and attracting foreign direct investment (FDI).

Long An is a locality with a particularly important position as it borders Ho Chi Minh City to the East, Tay Ninh and Cambodia to the North and Dong Thap and Tien Giang provinces to the West and South. Thanks to its location in the transition zone between the Southeast and the Mekong Delta, Long An has both conditions for industrial development and strengths in agricultural development.
