Ea Sup Thuong Lake has a water surface area of ​​1,400 hectares with a water volume of more than 146 million m3. This is one of the irrigation lakes with the largest water volume in Dak Lak province today.

However, because the project was built and put into use more than 20 years ago, part of the lake bed has been filled in, and partly due to this year's prolonged hot weather, the lake has dried up to the bottom.

Currently, the water level at Ea Sup Thuong Lake has dropped 1.7m below the dead water level.

This is the first year that Ea Sup Thuong Lake has dried up to the bottom.

The tree roots that had been submerged deep under the lake for many years were now exposed to the ground.

The project was completed and put into use more than 20 years ago, so the lake bed has been more or less silted up over time.

Many areas in the lake have dried up and are cracked.

Local people take advantage of the time when the lake is dry to set up nets to catch seafood.

Local people also took the opportunity to collect firewood when the bottom of Ea Sup Thuong Lake was dry.

Currently, Dak Lak Irrigation Works Management One Member Limited Liability Company continues to exploit the remaining water reserves in the reservoir to prevent drought for crops in the area.

Fortunately, the drying up of Ea Sup Thuong Lake occurred at the end of the season when most of the rice fields in Ea Sup district were ready for harvest, so there was no damage.

Thanks to the water source of Ea Sup Thuong Lake, the 2024-2025 winter-spring rice crop area in Ea Sup district will achieve an average yield of about 9 tons/ha.
