On the evening of April 28, at Hung Vuong Square, Tien Giang province, the opening ceremony of the 2nd Tien Giang Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival in 2025 took place towards the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification.

In particular, the opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Nguyen Minh Son - Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic and Financial Committee.

The 2nd Tien Giang Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival in 2025 with the theme "Tien Giang - The End of the Mekong" is an opportunity for Tien Giang province to promote its tangible and intangible cultural values, resources and unique tourism products to domestic and foreign friends and tourists. From there, promote promotional activities, striving to make Tien Giang tourism basically an important economic sector of the province by 2030.

The festival takes place for 4 days from April 28 to May 1, 2025 with many rich and diverse contents such as: Fair of high-quality Vietnamese trade goods; Display and introduction of OCOP products, typical handicraft products; Space for connecting cultural tourism inside and outside the province; 11th Tien Giang Open Table Tennis Tournament; 37th National Cycling Race for Ho Chi Minh City Television Cup - Connecting Mountains and Rivers; Introducing river tourism tours; Workshop on promoting the value of historical and cultural relics with tourism development in Tien Giang province... and many other rich activities.

In his opening speech, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Vinh believed that: "The 2nd Tien Giang Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival will create a strong influence, an opportunity for the people of the province and tourists to visit and learn about the friendly, peaceful and hospitable land of Tien Giang. This is also an event of Tien Giang province in response to the National Tourism Year 2025 - Held in Hue City".

Tien Giang is a land rich in revolutionary traditions with many historical and cultural relics associated with the names of national heroes such as: Rach Gan - Xoai Mut historical relic, Ap Bac victory, Mausoleum and temple of national hero Truong Dinh, Temple of national hero Thu Khoa Huan; Royal Mausoleum, Vinh Trang Pagoda, Long Hung Communal House...

Tien Giang tourism activities were formed very early, starting from the 80s, welcoming international visitors with the famous domestic and international Mekong Tour program. Statistics show that from 1982 to 1985, the average number of foreign visitors to Tien Giang was only about 3,000 per year, but very few stayed overnight, with exploited tourist attractions such as Dong Tam Snake Farm, Tan Lap Pineapple Farm, Vinh Trang Pagoda, etc.

After many ups and downs, by 1991, the number of international visitors to Tien Giang had skyrocketed, with more than 12,300 arrivals. The number of visitors to Tien Giang was mainly from travel companies in Ho Chi Minh City, brought in under contract, and most did not stay overnight. However, by 2000, the number of international visitors to Tien Giang increased rapidly, reaching more than 143,600. And so, the Tien Giang tourism industry continued to reap success until today.
