This year, for the first time, the Vietnamese delegation surpassed the Chinese delegation (China won 5 gold medals, 1 silver medal) and the Russian delegation (4 gold medals, 2 silver medals).

The Vietnamese team participating in this year's competition was assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training to the Institute of Mathematics to select 6 students out of the 12 best students who entered the second round of the Mathematics subject at the National Excellent Student Competition.

All 6 students of the Vietnamese delegation won gold medals at the 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad.

Among them, Nguyen Phuc Nguyen - 11th grade student of Newton Secondary and High School (Hanoi) and 2 other students jointly led the whole group with an impressive score of 40/50.

Nguyen Phuc Nguyen is the only student representing Hanoi and the first case from a private school to be on the Vietnamese team competing in the International Mathematical Olympiad. Phuc Nguyen not only affirms his outstanding personal ability but also marks a proud milestone in the quality of training at Newton Secondary and High School.

Nguyen Phuc Nguyen's success at the 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad continues to extend the series of outstanding international achievements that Newton students have achieved in recent years, such as: Leading the Vietnamese delegation at the 2023 International Mathematical and Scientific Olympiad (IMSO) is Pham Hoang Minh Khanh and winning 2 Silver Medals at the 2024 International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) are Vu Nhat Long and Vuong Ha Chi.

The only representative from Hanoi, student Nguyen Phuc Nguyen, was welcomed by his school and family after returning from the 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad.

Before achieving excellent results at the 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad, Nguyen Phuc Nguyen had an impressive journey of conquering academic exams.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Nguyen won second prize in Mathematics at the National Excellent Student Competition. He was also one of three students representing Hanoi to participate in the national team selection round. In the 2023-2024 school year, despite taking the exam at a higher level in grade 10, Phuc Nguyen still excelled and won second prize in Mathematics at the Hanoi Excellent Student Competition.

With a clear orientation and effective training methods, Newton is affirming its position as a pioneering “International Specialized” school, where students can confidently compete with international friends.
