Soc Trang solemnly held the 50th Anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day

NDO - On April 29, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Soc Trang province solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Party Central Committee member and Soc Trang Provincial Party Secretary Lam Van Man recalled that 50 years ago, the general offensive and uprising in the Spring of 1975, culminating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, achieved complete victory.

April 30, 1975 has gone down in national history as a brilliant milestone, bringing our country into a new era, the era of national independence and socialism.

For Soc Trang province, after April 30, 1975 and after the province's re-establishment from 1992 to present, with the support of the Central Government, the efforts and striving of the entire Party Committee, government, people, army and business community, Soc Trang province has achieved very exciting and proud achievements.

In 2024, the province's economic growth will reach 7.07%, a fairly high growth rate in recent terms; the average annual economic growth rate in the period 1993-2024 will reach over 8.56%.

The economic scale of the province in 2024 will reach 80,147 billion VND, an increase of 53.3 times, and the average GRDP per capita in 2024 will reach 66.5 million VND, an increase of 35 times compared to 1992.

Giving gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and outstanding individuals.

Many national and provincial key projects have been implemented, creating new development space, such as: Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang Expressway Project, Dai Ngai Bridge Project on National Highway 60... Infrastructure projects of industrial parks, clusters, and energy have been implemented, contributing to promoting structural transformation and socio-economic development of the province.

The whole province has 75/80 new rural communes, 29 advanced new rural communes, 3 model new rural communes; 5 district-level units have met the standards/completed the task of building new rural areas.

Up to now, the number of schools in the province has doubled compared to 1992, with more than 85% of schools meeting national standards; The health care network has been consolidated and improved from the province to the grassroots level; 100% of communes, wards and towns have met the national criteria for health care.

Responding to the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" launched by the Prime Minister, the province mobilized to build and complete 8,673 temporary and dilapidated houses for policy beneficiaries before June 30, 2025.

In the solemn atmosphere of the holiday, Chairman of the Provincial Veterans Association Le Trung Hau and Secretary of the Soc Trang Provincial Youth Union Trieu Thi Ngoc Diem, on behalf of revolutionary soldiers, Uncle Ho's soldiers and the young generation, vowed to promote the heroic revolutionary tradition, determined to build and protect the homeland of Soc Trang, the increasingly prosperous Vietnam.
