In a house that still smells of new bricks, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tram (born in 1935), in Huu Nghi residential group, Nong Truong Viet Trung town (Bo Trach) sits leaning against the porch, watching the children in the neighborhood playing in the yard. Every now and then, she smiles toothlessly, her wrinkles wrinkled as if imprinted with the traces of time, including the years she participated in resistance activities.
That house was a gift given to her from the policy of supporting NCC with the revolution, from the cooperation of the government, organizations and the community. For others, it might just be a small, normal 3-room house, but for Ms. Tram - a woman who has gone through nearly a century of life, experienced all kinds of hardships and bitterness, it was an unexpected dream come true.
With a support of 87 million VND, of which the central budget is 60 million VND, the province is 20 million VND, the Steering Committee for implementing housing construction for the NCC of Viet Trung Farm town is 7 million VND, and with the contribution of her children and grandchildren, the solid, sturdy 3-room house worth 180 million VND of Ms. Tram has been built, completed and put into use.
The day the new house was completed, she quietly walked from room to room, then sat down on the porch, looked up at the ancestral altar, her eyes filled with tears: "I never thought that at the end of my life I would still have such a solid and beautiful house. My life is so fulfilling!" The house is now not only a place to take shelter in her old age, but also a response, a responsible gratitude from the Party, the State and the people for her silent contributions, a compensation for the years of hardship she has gone through.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of the new era, there are hearts that still quietly light the flame of gratitude, as Vinh Hung Consulting and Construction Company Limited (located in Bo Trach) has chosen. With a sincere heart and deep social responsibility, the company has taken care of two Vietnamese Heroic Mothers (VNAH) in Bo Trach district for life, mother Do Thi Diem (Dong Giang village, Hung Trach commune) and mother Phan Thi Quyen (village 7, Ha My commune).
Not only providing material support (1 million VND/person/month), the company also regularly visits and encourages the spirit, especially when the mothers are sick. It is a warm sharing, small concerns but conveys great affection. For the two mothers, the last years of their lives have been warmed by the deep gratitude of today's generation. That noble gesture not only contributes to taking care of the NCC, but also conveys a profound message of gratitude and social responsibility.
The whole province is currently managing about 160,000 files of NCC with the revolution (accounting for more than 17% of the population) with more than 13,000 martyrs, nearly 115,000 people participating in the resistance war who were awarded medals and orders, nearly 20,000 wounded and sick soldiers, over 6,300 people participating in the resistance war and their children were infected with toxic chemicals, nearly 2,000 NCC helping the revolution, over 1,000 veteran cadres - pre-uprising, nearly 1,000 people participating in the revolution, resistance war were imprisoned by the enemy, 1,333 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers (currently 3 mothers are still alive). |
On the heroic land of Quang Binh, where tens of thousands of people were sent off to war, the war has ended, but the pain and memories of those fierce years are still present in today's life through the images of Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, relatives of martyrs... Those people have devoted their youth, blood and happiness to contribute to peace and independence for their homeland and country.
Deeply aware that caring for the elderly is not only a responsibility but also a command from the heart, in recent times, Quang Binh has implemented many practical, synchronous, and meaningful activities to show gratitude for those great contributions. From practical preferential policies to meaningful gratitude activities, the work of "repaying gratitude" has become a profound humane beauty, spreading widely throughout the localities in the province. Thousands of gratitude houses have been newly built and repaired; Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, wounded soldiers, and relatives of martyrs... have been visited and cared for regularly; many effective socialization models have contributed with the State to improve the quality of life for the elderly.
Every year, the province develops and issues a plan to organize practical activities to care for and support the elderly. The management and implementation of the elderly policy are implemented synchronously, resolved promptly, fully, in accordance with State regulations and in accordance with local conditions. From 2022 to June 2024, the province has resolved martyr worship subsidies for over 11,387 cases; resolved burial expenses and one-time subsidies for 2,700 cases; preferential education and training regimes for 340 cases; and implemented nursing care for nearly 20,000 people.
Every month, subsidies and preferential allowances are paid to more than 19,500 employees with a total amount of nearly 40 billion VND. The province also promptly presented gifts from the President and the province... on the occasion of Lunar New Year and the anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day to more than 25,000 employees, with a total amount of nearly 40 billion VND...
Taking good care of the implementation of policies for NCC is not only a responsibility, it is also a sentiment, a deep gratitude of the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Binh towards those who sacrificed and devoted themselves to the independence and freedom of the nation, a message of gratitude - so that the sacrifices and losses of the past are always remembered, respected and continued by today's actions.
Peace of Mind
