On the morning of August 8, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology held the launching ceremony of the Tran Dai Nghia Award 2025.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha - Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology said: This is the third time the Tran Dai Nghia Award has been held. The previous two times (2016 and 2019), the Standing Agency of the Award and specialized scientific councils worked actively and responsibly and nominated 06 projects to award the Award. These projects span many fields, wide range of applications and influences and impacts are clear, authentic and objective evidence affirming the quality of the nominated projects as having good practical applications for socio-economic development, national defense and security.

From this event, scientists, teachers, professors, doctors... will be shining examples to spread to generations of young scientists, speed up the application of science and technology, contributing to the country's development based on science and technology.

In 2025, on the occasion of the 112th anniversary of the birth of Professor Academician Tran Dai Nghia (September 13, 1913), the 66th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, the Tran Dai Nghia Award wishes to seek and honor the authors of the most outstanding works that have been and are being applied in practical life, bringing about economic, social, security and national defense efficiency.

Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha also said that the Tran Dai Nghia Award is an award for applied science and technology, awarded to Vietnamese and foreign scientists and technologists who have presided over outstanding research projects in the fields of natural sciences and technology such as: Mathematics; Mechanics; Information science and computer science; Physics; Chemistry; Life sciences; Earth sciences; Marine sciences; Environmental and energy sciences and projects that have participated in the application of those results in Vietnam, contributing to the cause of economic and social development and ensuring national security and defense.

According to the Organizing Committee, unlike other Science and Technology Awards at all levels, the Tran Dai Nghia Award honors scientific works with practical and applied values. In addition, the Science Council and the Award Council will consider the application value of the work to the economy, society and the development of the people and country of Vietnam. Therefore, the Tran Dai Nghia Award can be awarded to a foreign scientist.

The Standing Agency of the Award receives domestic and international applications from October 1 to December 31, 2024. The Specialized Scientific Council will review and select the best applications of each specialty, and submit them to the Award Council for consideration and decision on awarding the award.

The third Tran Dai Nghia Award is expected to be presented on the occasion of the anniversary of Vietnam Science and Technology Day and the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (May 2025)./.
