Unleashing the potential and advantages of OCOP products

Implementing the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program, many localities in Nghe An province have effectively exploited the potential and advantages of craft villages and typical agricultural products, contributing to promoting the economy and increasing the value of each product.

In total, Nghe An province has 712 products rated 3 stars or higher (including 665 products rated 3 stars, 45 products rated 4 stars, 2 products rated 5 stars) and 1 OCOP product with the potential to become a 5-star OCOP product. To promote the development of OCOP products and enhance promotion, entities and units of Nghe An province have actively put their products on e-commerce platforms. This not only helps businesses, cooperatives, and OCOP entities reach consumers quickly, but also expands the market, diversifies consumption channels, and promotes sustainable development for local products.

In Hoang Mai town, up to now, there have been 36 products achieving OCOP star. In particular, the group of frozen seafood products stands out with products such as: cleaned mackerel, one-sun-dried mackerel, squid, pickled fish cakes... which are favored by the people. The owners of the establishments constantly improve the quality of the products, as well as improve the design and packaging to increase competitiveness in the market.

Dien Chau District with its vast sea area is the place that provides raw materials for the production of dozens of OCOP products such as fish sauce, shrimp and seafood... which have been regularly used by many domestic customers. After nearly 5 years of implementing the "One Commune One Product" program, Dien Chau now has 42 OCOP products.

Of which, 2 products achieved 4 OCOP stars, including: Sy Thang lotus peanuts and Van fish sauce. The leader of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dien Chau district said that in recent years, localities have focused on implementing the program "One commune, one product".

To stimulate the consumption of local OCOP products, every year, the district coordinates with departments, branches, and the provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center to organize seminars to introduce and promote products at regional and national trade fairs, Tet fairs, and at the same time build an e-commerce platform; set up booths to introduce local OCOP products. Thanks to that, Dien Chau's OCOP products are increasingly known to consumers.

Vinh City and Nghi Loc District are also known to tourists for many OCOP products. With the motto of improving product quality, in recent years, localities have built hundreds of OCOP products, including 5-star products. Nghi Loc District currently has 49 OCOP star products, of which many communes have 2-5 products.

Typically, Nghi Van commune has 5 products achieving OCOP stars: Cam Doi; Honey; Green-skinned grapefruit, melon and black-skinned chicken eggs... If in the past, OCOP products were mainly fish sauce, shrimp paste, and sour shrimp, now Vinh city has expanded to many new products in the seafood processing industry such as grilled mackerel, squid rolls, mackerel rolls, cotton floss, peanut candy, and nutritious cereals.

Most of the seafood processing businesses in coastal areas have many years of experience in production and business and have a stable customer base. In order for local OCOP products to have an advantage in the market, over the years, authorities at all levels and specialized sectors have advised on organizing many promotional campaigns, introducing OCOP products in supermarkets and dozens of provinces and cities...

In 2024 alone, in order to promote trade and develop the market, the Department of Industry and Trade, the Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, and the Nghe An Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development have synchronously deployed many activities to support agricultural, forestry and fishery production and processing establishments, and OCOP products to penetrate domestic and foreign markets, and export markets. In addition, in 2024, the Nghe An Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development supported 100 establishments to participate in 43 fairs, with over 230 booths; over 200 types of products were promoted and introduced in provinces and cities across the country;

At the same time, it organized connection and trade promotion trips in the provinces of Lang Son, Kon Tum, Da Nang, etc. Since then, many units that are the subjects of OCOP products have connected, offered and brought products to consumption in these markets. The sectors have organized 3 trade promotion trips and supported more than 100 establishments to participate in 43 fairs nationwide; opened a booth to introduce OCOP products and specialties of Nghe An province at Go! Vinh Supermarket, creating conditions for businesses and cooperatives to access the modern retail market.

Nghe An's OCOP products have also been promoted on the e-commerce platform 37nghean.com, with more than 470 enterprises and rural industrial establishments participating, a total of 7,653 products introduced and attracting more than 9.2 million visits.

Nghe An province has been focusing on promoting the OCOP program to promote local advantages, increase the value of agricultural products and promote sustainable rural economic development. With the characteristics of a large province with great potential in agriculture, forestry, cultural heritage and traditional craft villages, Nghe An identifies the OCOP program as an important direction to create development momentum for localities, increase income for people and build brands for local products.

The success of OCOP products in Nghe An comes not only from the quality of raw materials and traditional production secrets but also from the practical support of authorities at all levels. The province has implemented many support policies such as: investing in infrastructure, supporting the building of brands, product packaging, training to improve management and production capacity for OCOP entities, especially cooperatives and production and business households.

With the right direction and the drastic participation of the entire political system, Nghe An is gradually affirming its position as one of the leading localities in the country in effectively implementing the OCOP program, contributing to promoting sustainable new rural construction and improving people's lives.
