Old documents are still valid after administrative unit merger

From July 1, a series of communes, wards, provinces and cities will be merged, eliminating the district level. After the merger, will current administrative documents need to be redone? Many people wonder where to go to do the procedures.

The Department of Administrative Procedure Control, Government Office said: according to Resolution 190 of the National Assembly, people can continue to use all types of administrative documents that are still valid until they expire, and are not required to be renewed just because the locality name changes.

To facilitate people, the Government has requested ministries and branches to complete the revision and decentralization of administrative procedures before June 30; requested the People's Committees of provinces to ensure that 100% of administrative procedures are not dependent on administrative boundaries, so that people can choose the most convenient place to carry out the procedures.

At the same time, there will be a "soft handover" phase, in which documents will still use the old and new names in parallel if they are still valid.
