Comrades: Hoang Duy Chinh, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Nguyen Dang Binh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee discussed with delegates at the meeting to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

This great victory is the crystallization of countless sacrifices and hardships, and the result of the spirit of solidarity and the indomitable will of the entire nation. During the fierce years of war, the army and people of the North and South stood shoulder to shoulder, united in fighting against the invaders, for the ultimate goal: Independence, freedom, and national reunification.

In the North, each army and convoy crossed Truong Son carrying patriotism and sacred responsibility, providing reinforcements for the great front line. A solid rear base with the spirit of “all for the beloved South”, “each person doing the work of two”, created a huge resource contributing to the common victory. The legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail from 1965 to 1975 was a testament to the indomitable spirit, where thousands of hearts, hands, and minds shed blood and sweat to keep the “traffic blood vessels” always open.

In the South, the army and people steadfastly held on, fighting with an indomitable spirit and extraordinary courage. The image of a liberation army tank crashing through the gate of the Independence Palace at noon on April 30, 1975 has become an immortal symbol of the desire for peace and unification, a vivid testament to the indomitable will and invincible strength of the Vietnamese people.

The victory on April 30 not only ended the more than two-decade-long resistance war against the US, but was also a historic victory that brought the Vietnamese people into a new era – the era of independence, unity, building and defending the Fatherland. This was also a pinnacle of the revolutionary spirit, courage, intelligence and deep patriotism that President Ho Chi Minh had worked hard to foster.

As early as 1911, at Nha Rong Wharf, the patriotic young man Nguyen Tat Thanh set out to find a way to save the country. After thirty years of wandering around the world, he brought the light of revolution back to his homeland, illuminating the path for the Vietnamese revolution. Since coming across Lenin's Draft Theses on the National and Colonial Questions, Nguyen Ai Quoc chose the path of proletarian revolution to liberate the nation. Since then, the Vietnamese revolution has had the Party and Uncle Ho as its leader, leading the nation from one victory to another.

On September 2, 1945, at the historic Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. On May 7, 1954, the victory that “resounded throughout the five continents and shook the world” at Dien Bien Phu marked the end of French colonial rule, opening the journey to fight for national unification.

However, the country continued to be divided by the plots and interventions of the American imperialists. Although the North was liberated, President Ho Chi Minh still worried about the South. He always emphasized: "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom" and affirmed that "even though we have to sacrifice a lot of money and people, we are determined to fight the American invaders until complete victory".

In his sacred Testament left to the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army, he wrote: “Although our people’s struggle against the US to save the country must go through more hardships and sacrifices, it will definitely achieve complete victory. That is certain.” He wished for the country to be peaceful, unified, independent, democratic, and prosperous – a burning desire throughout his life.

After his death, the entire nation turned grief into revolutionary action. The 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising, culminating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, gloriously ended the resistance war against the US to save the country. At exactly 11:30 a.m. on April 30, 1975, the revolutionary flag flew on the roof of the Independence Palace, signaling complete victory. The Vietnamese Fatherland was reunited, and the dream of North-South reunification became a reality.

Lessons from the Great Victory of Spring 1975 have profoundly affirmed the wise, correct and creative leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The Party's will and the people's hearts combined to create an unparalleled strength. The art of people's war, political courage, the spirit of independence, self-reliance and the desire for peace crystallized that great victory - a brilliant peak in the cause of national liberation, forever marked in the glorious history of Vietnam./.
