President returns to Hanoi, successfully concluding State visit to Laos

President Luong Cuong and the Vietnamese High-Level Delegation have arrived in Hanoi, successfully concluding their State visit to Laos at the invitation of Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith.

On the evening of April 25, President Luong Cuong and the Vietnamese High-Level Delegation returned to Hanoi, successfully concluding the State visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic at the invitation of Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith.

This is the first official visit of President Luong Cuong to the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

The visit took place in the context of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos continuing to develop well.

The two sides affirmed their determination to strengthen and enhance the Vietnam-Laos friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation in the new situation, in accordance with the actual situation of each country.

This is also a meaningful visit, an opportunity for the two Parties and two countries to review the tradition of close ties, the "unique" loyal relationship, "love deeper than the Red River and the Mekong Delta" of brothers and comrades who have stood shoulder to shoulder, sharing the joys and sorrows in the resistance war and building the country.

During the visit, President Luong Cuong had important talks with Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith; met with National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane and Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.

Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith highly appreciated the significance of President Luong Cuong's first visit to Laos in his new position, demonstrating the importance of the Party, State of Vietnam and President Luong Cuong personally to the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos; affirming that the visit marks an important milestone, contributing to promoting the relationship between the two Parties and two countries to develop in depth, effectively and practically, contributing to serving the cause of innovation, national construction and protection in each country.

During the talks and meetings, the two sides discussed and agreed on major orientations for developing bilateral relations in the coming time, including consolidating the trustful and close political relationship; maintaining regular visits and contacts at high and all levels; focusing on promoting exchanges and cooperation between the people of the two countries in diverse and flexible forms.

The two sides also reaffirmed that they always attach importance to and give the highest priority to consolidating and enhancing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, considering this a priceless asset and a vital factor for the revolutionary cause of each country; at the same time, they highly agreed on the need to find new and breakthrough ways to improve the effectiveness of economic, cultural, scientific and technological cooperation on the basis of maximizing the potential and strengths of each country.

President Luong Cuong also had meetings with a number of former senior leaders of Laos; worked with the Vietnamese Embassy; met with representatives of associations, businessmen, intellectuals and the Vietnamese community in Laos and a number of other important activities.

In particular, President Luong Cuong and General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith attended the friendship exchange program "Vietnam-Laos, our two countries, love deeper than the Red River-Mekong Delta" with the presence of many veterans and representatives of the Laotian generation who studied in Vietnam, as well as Vietnamese students in Laos.

The event is a prominent demonstration of the close and lasting relationship and comradeship between the Parties and people of the two countries, as well as the steadfast affection that the two sides have had for each other throughout the history of the two nations./.
