International friends celebrate the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day...

On April 29, at the Highway base of the United Nations Interim Security Mission in Abyei (UNISFA), the Vietnam Engineering Team No. 3 held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

International delegates attended the celebration.

The ceremony was attended by Major General Ameer Muhammad Umrani, Deputy Commander of the Military Forces and Acting Head of the UNISFA Mission; representatives of the Abyei administrative region government; commanders of the sending countries and all officers and staff of the Vietnamese forces participating in the United Nations peacekeeping operations (UNPKO).

At the beginning of the program, delegates enjoyed a special art performance with songs praising the glorious Party, great Uncle Ho, and the heroic Vietnam People's Army, performed by officers and employees of Engineering Team No. 3 and working groups of the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security; watched documentaries, book exhibitions and documentary photos about the heroic historical journey of the Vietnamese people's struggle for national liberation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Hao, Captain of Engineering Team No. 3, Commander of the Vietnamese forces participating in UN peacekeeping operations at the UNISFA Mission, affirmed the great significance of the April 30 Victory in liberating the South and reunifying the country.

Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Hao emphasized: Following the heroic tradition of the nation, the soldiers of the Vietnam Engineering Team No. 3, carrying the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, have been making constant efforts to build infrastructure, ensure vital traffic, and support the local community in Abyei. The solid structures and roads of hope that the Engineering Team has built are vivid evidence of Vietnam's humanitarian spirit and love of peace.

Major General Ameer Muhammad Umrani, Deputy Commander of the UNISFA Mission, said: “The victory on April 30, 1975 is not only a historical milestone for Vietnam, but also an inspiration for those who cherish peace, independence and progress. We appreciate the professionalism, sense of responsibility and international solidarity that the Vietnamese forces are demonstrating at the UNISFA Mission. On behalf of the leadership and command of the UNISFA Mission, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to the Government and people of Vietnam and all members of the Vietnamese Engineer Corps No. 3 on this historic anniversary. I hope that the lessons of the past will continue to inspire us all to work together for a more peaceful, just and prosperous world.”

Ms. Abionweng Majith Diing, Minister of Peace for Abyei Region, on behalf of the local government, sent her best wishes to the Vietnamese people, as well as all officers and staff of the 3rd Engineer Corps; and expressed her admiration for Vietnam's journey to national reunification, considering it a source of inspiration for the people of Abyei and other East African countries that are striving to overcome conflicts and move towards peace and stability.

The celebration ended with a spirited martial arts performance by officers and staff of Engineering Team No. 3.

Delegates and international friends attended a reception with traditional Vietnamese dishes imbued with national identity.
