As a mountainous, border district, a place of "fire pans, rain pockets", Huong Khe is a locality that is often heavily affected by natural disasters, the lives and economy of a part of the people are still unstable. The whole district has about 240 policy households with especially difficult circumstances, many households have to live in temporary houses, dilapidated houses. Responding to the movement "Eliminating temporary houses, dilapidated houses" launched by the Prime Minister and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Agribank accompanied the Hope Fund to support funding to build and repair houses for 37 households. These are not only solid roofs, but also warm homes, places to place hope for a more stable future for the people, promoting the tradition of great national unity and the spirit of "Leaving no one behind".

The program was even more meaningful when it was held in Huong Khe district (Ha Tinh) on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Huong Khe was the direct rear of the Southern battlefield, the "steel door" that steadfastly fought back many enemy sabotage attacks, firmly protected the rear and fulfilled its duty to mobilize human and material resources to support the battlefields.

In this donation, one of the most touching houses was the house given to Mr. Tran Viet Van's family, village 3, Huong Thuy commune, Huong Khe district, Ha Tinh province. At the age of 98, Mr. Van is a living symbol of history, a witness to the heroic years when he fought in Dien Bien Phu, the South and Laos. His wife, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tam, is now 100 years old, bedridden and no longer lucid. The couple lives in a seriously degraded house with cracked walls, leaky roof, and at risk of collapsing at any time. Their daily life depends only on pensions and subsidies, most of which must be spent on medicine and minimal living expenses.

His last wish was simple but passionate: “I just hope to have a solidly built house, so that my wife and I will no longer have to endure the cold and dilapidation every time it rains in our last days.” The fact that Agribank started construction and presented the new house to Mr. Tran Viet Van not only has material value, but also shows deep gratitude to those who have contributed to the heroic history of the nation. That is also the humane message that Agribank wants to convey: the sacrifices of the past are forever remembered and respected through practical actions today.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ha Van Dan - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Huong Khe district, on behalf of local authorities, acknowledged and appreciated the contributions, valuable sentiments, timely, effective and extremely meaningful support of Agribank for Huong Khe district in general and households receiving housing sponsorship in particular.
