The Healthcare Innovation Business Forum is a key event within the framework of the UK Healthcare Innovation Trade Mission’s visit to Vietnam. The forum brings together over 165 healthcare leaders, policymakers, researchers and businesses from Vietnam and the UK to explore cutting-edge innovations in digital health, medical technology and life sciences.
This UK healthcare trade mission includes leading organisations such as Alder Hey Children's Hospital, the Public Health Innovation Lab (University of Liverpool), Modality Partnership, the Nuffield Department of Medicine (University of Oxford), and a number of healthcare technology companies such as TPP, Blüm Health, Axela, Envisionit Deep AI and MediBioSense.
Experts from the UK shared practical experiences from successful models in major cities such as Liverpool. They also discussed many other topics including: digital transformation in the healthcare sector; innovation in medicine and research and development; solutions to enhance operational efficiency and develop healthcare human resources, innovation capacity in Vietnam...
Speaking at the forum, Mr. Marcus Winsley, Deputy Head of Mission of the UK to Vietnam, affirmed the UK’s commitment to expanding health cooperation with Vietnam. According to Mr. Winsley, the two countries have a long history of cooperation in the field of health care, including policy dialogue, scientific research and trade development.
“On the journey of digital transformation and modernisation of the healthcare sector, the UK is ready to support Vietnam, especially Ho Chi Minh City, through sharing experiences in innovation, digital healthcare and healthcare workforce development,” Mr. Winsley emphasized.

Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh Chau, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, said that since 2023, with support from the British Government, the city has made many important strides in realizing its strategy of becoming the Southeast Asia Healthcare Innovation Center. The Digital Transformation Center and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health have cooperated with many prestigious organizations in Liverpool such as Alder Hey Hospital, CHIL Organization... to visit and learn about advanced healthcare innovation models.
Since then, the two sides have jointly developed strategies and implemented many key cooperation activities such as: surveying and comprehensively assessing the Ho Chi Minh City healthcare system to identify needs and directions for innovation; developing cooperation projects between major hospitals, implementing advanced biomedical engineering models; applying artificial intelligence (AI) in disease prevention; building a medical data center and researching antibiotic resistance.
“The results achieved are a testament to the increasingly deep international cooperation between Vietnam and the UK. We hope to continue to receive support from the UK Government and partners to expand cooperation, promote innovation and improve medical capacity, bringing the best healthcare services to the people,” said Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh Chau.
