The historical theme “Lao Cai under French colonial rule” is exhibited by the Provincial Museum in collaboration with experts and interns from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, including sub-themes: Administrative, administrative and military organization; economic exploitation; infrastructure development; environment and material culture; research on local populations for scientific, political, military, economic and financial purposes; the war of national liberation, from beginning to victory; linguistic heritage and other heritages.

More than 300 documents, images and artifacts have outlined the history of Lao Cai from 1858 to 1954, while adding new documents, reflecting each stage of formation, change and transformation of Lao Cai according to the flow of modern history.

For the exhibition of paintings and art photos with the theme "New Lao Cai", there are nearly 70 works reflecting the revolutionary history, landscape, heritage and cultural life of Lao Cai ethnic groups through the perspective of artists introduced, thereby helping the public understand more deeply about the historical journey and changes of the land at the headland of the Fatherland.
