Accordingly, the Wax Coconut Festival will be held from August 25th to August 31st, 2024 in Cau Ke district with many activities.
Specifically, the event will feature an exhibition of delicious fruit specialties from Cau Ke district (especially waxy coconuts), a competition to prepare 100 delicious dishes from waxy coconuts, a trade fair, a lion dance festival, sports activities and folk games, and religious activities related to Ông Bổn...
In addition, within the framework of the Waxy Coconut Festival, there will be a seminar on the theme "Cau Ke Tourism - Potential along the Hau River", and a workshop on waxy coconut trees.
According to Mr. Le Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province, the Coconut Festival will also include a 15-minute low-altitude fireworks display (the fireworks will be launched at the Cau Ke district stadium; starting at 9:30 PM on August 25, 2024).

According to Mr. Binh, the Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Festival is a special event, the first of its kind to be held in Tra Vinh province, on a provincial scale, with the participation of provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region. The aim is to honor and promote the brand and values of wax coconuts, and to affirm the efforts and determination to bring processed wax coconut products to global markets.
Within the framework of the Wax Coconut Festival, a parallel event is also taking place: the Vu Lan Festival Week of Cau Ke District (on August 27, 2024, the decision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will be announced to recognize the Vu Lan Festival Week of Cau Ke District as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage).
This is an activity to preserve, maintain, and promote the Vu Lan Thang Hoi festival, a religious belief of the Chinese community in Cau Ke district, Tra Vinh province, which annually attracts 30,000-50,000 visitors.
Tra Vinh is the province with the second largest coconut growing area in the Mekong Delta (after Ben Tre), with nearly 27,400 hectares and an annual production of approximately 444 million coconuts, including more than 752 hectares of waxy coconuts (most concentrated in Cau Ke district).
In Tra Vinh province's strategy to upgrade the coconut value chain, the specialty waxy coconut from Cau Ke is being prioritized for development, linked with tourism and the processing of value-added products.
