On the afternoon of August 12, Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee held a press conference to inform about the organization of the Tra Vinh Province Wax Coconut Festival in 2024.

Accordingly, the Wax Coconut Festival will be held from August 25 to 31, 2024 in Cau Ke district with many activities.
Specifically, displaying delicious fruit specialties of Cau Ke district (especially wax coconut), contest of making 100 delicious dishes from wax coconut, trade fair, lion dance festival, sports activities and folk games, Ong Bon worship activities...
In addition, within the framework of the Wax Coconut Festival, there will also be a discussion with the theme "Cau Ke Tourism - Potential along Hau River" and a workshop on wax coconut trees.
Mr. Le Thanh Binh - Vice Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee said that within the framework of the Wax Coconut Festival, there will also be a low-altitude fireworks display for 15 minutes (fireworks display location at Cau Ke District Stadium; starting time at 9:30 p.m. on August 25, 2024).

According to Mr. Binh, the Tra Vinh wax coconut festival is a special event, held for the first time in Tra Vinh province, on an expanded provincial scale, with the participation of provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region. Thereby, it aims to honor and promote the brand and values of wax coconut and affirm the efforts and determination to bring products processed from wax coconut to world markets.
Within the framework of the Wax Coconut Festival, there is also a parallel activity called Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week in Cau Ke district (on August 27, 2024, the decision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will be announced to recognize Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week in Cau Ke district as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage).
This is an activity to preserve, maintain and promote the Vu Lan Thang Hoi festival, the belief of the Chinese community in Cau Ke district, Tra Vinh province, which annually attracts 30,000-50,000 visitors.
Tra Vinh is the province with the second largest coconut area in the Mekong Delta (after Ben Tre), with nearly 27,400 hectares, annual output of about 444 million fruits, including more than 752 hectares of wax coconut (most concentrated in Cau Ke district).
In the strategy to upgrade the coconut value chain of Tra Vinh province, Cau Ke specialty wax coconut is focused on investment and development, associated with tourism and processing of value-added products.
