Mr. Abir Aich - representative of Aptech Group shared at the conference

The above information was shared by Mr. Abir Aich, Executive Vice President of Academics, Content and Technology of Aptech Global Group at the International Conference on Exploding Creativity with Virtual Studio Technology, held on the morning of August 11 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The event was jointly organized by MAAC Academy of Cinematography and Animation, Arena Multimedia and Aptech Group (India), with the participation of domestic and foreign experts, a number of film producers and hundreds of students interested in and pursuing this field.

Referring specifically to the Indian market, Mr. Abir Aich cited data from a new report by Grand View Research, Inc., the size of the virtual manufacturing market in this country is expected to reach 507.1 million USD (2030), equivalent to a compound annual growth rate of 22%, in the period 2023-2030.

According to Aptech representative, the concept of virtual film studio is becoming more and more popular. It is a blend of traditional filmmaking with real-time CGI image simulation technology system and digital technology, creating an interactive, attractive environment for visual storytelling.

More and more filmmakers are choosing virtual studios to make films due to their efficiency and convenience. For example, many blockbuster special effects in the world have applied this technology from TV series such as Mandalorian (2019), House of dragon (2022), Percy Jackson and the Olympians (2023)... to famous movies: Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), Top gun: Maverick (2022), Black Adam (2022), Megalopolis (2024)...

In the Vietnamese market, this technology, although still relatively new, has been applied in film production, including some scenes in the two films Lat mat 6: Tat ve dinh menh and Lat mat 7: Mot uoc .

Mr. Tran Hoang Hai, founder of LumiGrade Media, shares many attractive opportunities when applying virtual studios to actual production.

According to Mr. Abir Aich, the application of virtual studios in the production of TV series or movies is for many reasons, such as liberating creative freedom, saving time and costs, reducing the need for a physical location, increasing flexibility and repetition, increasing collaboration...

Mr. Tran Hoang Hai, founder of LumiGrade Media, also agreed that virtual studio technology is contributing to changing the current way of making films.

Previously, with the traditional form of film production, it had to go through the following stages: script, pre-production, production, post-production, release...

Nowadays, with virtual studio technology, the pre-production stage will integrate both 3D design and construction to effects, thereby reducing the work for the production and post-production stages.

Mr. Hai said that with this technology, film crews can create 5-7 different scenes from the forest, under the sea, underwater... in just one day and minimize risks. To do this, careful preparation is required in the pre-production stage.

According to some Vietnamese experts in this field who attended the conference, although there is a lot of potential, the application of virtual film studios in reality still faces many difficulties. Because this technology is quite new, it takes more time to create trust and convince directors and producers.
